Walsh Jesuit 2025

‘26 WR Milan Parris had an impromptu workout with Shedeur Sanders. Parris was 2nd Team All Ohio last season and is an Iowa State commit.

It was good work. Pauly Sadler had the best session of the WRs there, it’s amazing how good of a WR he’s turned himself into. Parris has an insane catch radius, and Heights represented with a QB and CB/WR. If Parris has a QB that can get him the ball his numbers should be excellent.

Sidenote, does WJ have an alum working at the ABJ? It was def a cool experience for all of the kids but an article about seems a bit much then you had the article about Dave and he’s yet to play a meanigful Varisty snap; obviously he’s been behind a two time All-State QB so that makes sense. Either way, all publicty is good publicty.

The Warrior baseball team ended up as the 4th Seed in the 29 team D2 Northeast Super District.
They are in the Northeast 4 District which feeds into Region 5 in Gates Mills. The 1st Round Opponent is #26 Valley Forge.
The winner will play either #15 Massillon Perry or #19 Eastlake North. The other top teams in the Region are #5 Lakewood, #6 Hoover, and #7 Avon Lake.

Oddly enough the Top 3 Seeds (#1 Amherst, #2 North Ridgeville, and #3 Hudson) are in Northeast Districts #6, 7, and 5 respectively.
Those Districts feed into Region 6 in Oberlin.

Seems like a favorable draw. Not one team in their district that I think can challenge Walsh. Other than Hoover in the region, it looks like a very easy path to the final four. As you mention, the Region 6 teams got boned. I think their top 3 are all capable of beating Walsh, especially in a game that Sullivan doesn't pitch in.

From what I understand, the teams pick their spot in the bracket starting from #1 all the way down to #29. A team can pass when their turn comes up and pick whenever they want to after that.
I would have to think that at least one of the top 3 seeds (maybe 2) deferred their pick until after Walsh selected. That’s the only explanation I can think of that would explain the Top 3 seeds in Districts 5, 6, and 7 feeding into Region 6, and Walsh by itself in District 4 (feeding into Region 5).

Below was shared in the summit county thread from the ABJ...... In addition to those mentioned, WJ also returns starter Caden Mariola at LB, Courtad who played at LB, Dachille (sp) who i believe missed the season last year. What other key contributors return? The OL, DL, and WR in addition to QB will need new players to step in.

Walsh Jesuit Warriors

Lost: Mr. Football finalist and Division II Co-offensive Player of the Year Keller Moten (1,734 yards, 17 TDs, 1,380 yards rushing, 23 TDs) at quarterback. All-state offensive lineman Kodey Kish, All-Ohio linebacker Declan Norton and all-state safety Aiden Henry are also gone, as is running back Lucas Weaver (857 yards rushing, nine TDs).

Where Walsh is strong: At running back for sure with Marty Tobin (974 yards, nine TDs), Carlos Smith (558 yards, eight TDs) and Cade Romanini, who returns from injury. Iowa State commit and All-Ohioan Milan Parris (597 yards receiving, nine TDs) is back, as are all-state lineman and Ohio University commit Colton Crosley and guard Brayden Piersall. Caden Carter is a star at linebacker as are Grant Blascak, James Brewer, Ben Biel and Tommy Pulletti in the secondary. Add Dario Jeras on the line and the Warriors shouldn't miss a beat.

WJ has a lot of speed that hasn’t seen the field yet on Friday night. The 4x100 team set the school record on Saturday with a time of 42.45. The team consisted of Eric Grimm, Sean Scott, Cambell Lann, and AJ Skinner.
Grimm is the only one that doesn’t play football. Scott and Lann are sophomores, and Skinner is a junior.

Softball team stays at #2 in the Coaches Poll. They are 13-1.

Baseball moved up to #4 in the Coaches Poll. They are 10-5 but lost a tough one to Jackson 8-4, giving up 6 unearned runs.

Boys track came in 3rd at the 22 team Woodridge Wrap Up on Saturday. They won the 4x1 and 4x4 Relays. The 4x1 team set the Meet and Stadium Record. This is a very deep team but no individual superstars.

Walks and errors last night. That is why I'm not as high on this team as it feels like I should be. Tons of great arms. But prone to missing the strike zone. In the tournament, you can't have that. All the teams are good enough to take advantage of a pitcher giving away free bases. Hitting may be coming around though. Would like to see a little more hitting for power and extra bases. That SS you have, Mansberry, seems like the real deal. He playing in college? How's the range and arm? Good enough to stick at SS at the next level?

D2 has a ridiculous amount of parity this year. Outside of maybe Steele, the top 20 are all very close. Teams like Hoover, Clay, New Albany, Brecksville - all just as good as Hudson, Walsh, North Ridgeville, I'm guessing.

I haven't seen Steele at all. Not even video clips on GC. Are they the clear favorite?

Errors have been huge this season so far. 17 unearned runs so far to only 27 earned runs.

Hitting is suspect also besides Mansbery and a few others. Mansbery is a junior committed to Michigan. I’m not sure if he’ll stick at SS in college but he is very tall (6-3) and athletic.

Steele is very good but I’m not sure they are a huge favorite. They don’t have a lot of experience playing deep in the tournament and their schedule has been weak compared to the other favorites.

Great to have Mansberry back next year. From what I've seen and heard, he is up there amongst the best position players in team history. Any idea what summer team he plays for? Local or does he play for a national team that spends the summer in Georgia? I'd like to follow him on game changer in the off season to see how he does. I'm not up on the local summer teams, but don't most Walsh kids play for a club called "Release"? That is what I've heard. The proliferation of travel baseball has been huge since the last time I followed HS baseball this seriously. Ohio Elite and the Longhorns were just starting around that time. I don't believe Release even existed. Not sure of any of the others. Those are the only 3 names I really even know outside a few lower level ones that my friends have nephews, kids and grandkids playing for.

Another question while I'm at it - does "Hot Stove" baseball even exist today? How about the Stark/Summit League? Back in the day, that is where you played summer ball if you were a good player.

Sorry to be so inquisitive. But I'm totally getting into all this. With any luck, I'll have grandkids playing travel ball one day. Or maybe I'll forget all about it once 2x days start. :)

How big is Campbell Lann? Is he presumed to start at WR opposite Parris? Does the offense ever use a TE besides in their heavy run formations? I have often hoped they would have a TE threat over the middle

What school did the quarter back from last year go to

Lann is 6-4 around 200. Probably play outside WR at Walsh and maybe TE in college if he bulks up a bit, since that position isn’t really a focus in Coach Alexander’s offense.

He’s already run 11.34 in the 100 and 23.09 in the 200 as a sophomore.

Matthew Mansbery plays for Legends Scout Team 2026. It’s a local team with some really good players like Landon Thiel (Jackson and OSU) and Nathan Bryant ( Lake Center Christian and OSU).

Hot Stove and the Stark Sunmit League still exist but aren’t as big due to all the travel teams.

FYI, Mansbery leads Walsh in Batting Average, HR, RBI, and Runs.

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. I'll try to find his summer team on Game Changer. Would've thought he played for one of the local "name" teams or a national team. But I applaud him for sticking with his club. Back in the day, some of the best teams were kids that all grew up and developed together. From what I'm learning these days, you have clubs that don't develop anyone - they just recruit talent that someone else developed.

He's been a beast at the plate. I think I said in another thread - sounds like he compares favorably to some of the great Walsh players over the past 15/20 years. I'm surprised more teams don't pitch around him. I would. And maybe they are and that he is just that good.

Cleveland. Com playoff preview.

OSU sophmore and Walsh graduate Mason Eckelman is having a nice season so far behind the plate. Started 39 out 40 games with a .308 batting average. Tied for second on the team with 44 hits, also has 4 HRs and 23 RBIs.
Mason’s cousin, Henry Kaczmar, is also doing well at South Carolina. He plays SS and is hitting .311 with 6 HR and 28 RBI. He has started 52 games this season for the Gamecocks.

I met Chris Kaczmar along time ago in a related profession. He seemed like a well rounded figure and also made time to give back in coaching. Credit to him.

Any word on the athletic department shakeup? New AD or what the new department structure will be? Sounds like everyone was let go...

According to the man himself he and Salata his assistant former AD, they were non renewed and new President was bringing his people in. That doesn’t sound like retired. Forced retired maybe.
