Versailles vs. Fort Loramie

St Henry hasn't been relevant in the MAC really since like 2012 and haven't won state in nearly 20 years. DSJ is really struggling and haven't really been relevant since 2012 also. Like you said New Bremen was on hard times. What makes you think that the Shelby Fort wouldn't come in and adapt to the MACs style of play any better than those teams. Yeah you may not win the MAC but the competition in the MAC has helped numerous teams win titles when ML was up a division and so forth. The same can not be said for the NWC
so true.. but can St Henry be happy coming in 3rd? The Shelby Fort has players in ALL sports boys and girls that can compete in ALL sports in the MAC

i mean a couple years ago... loramie should have beaten the Steiners in the playoffs.. not sure if the MOON was BLUE that night or not!!!

Not any time soon, why would Fort Loramie want their program to become another Fort Recovery or Parkway in football. FL is not a big school district enrollment number wise 85 boys. Why come to the MAC and get your head beat in and risk becoming like FR. They would be great in other MAC sports but why become an also ran in football.

Edit: In 2020 Fort Recovery took Coldwater to the wire in a playoff game now look at Fort Recovery.
Agreed FL girls sports would be powerful. Boys would be mostly solid especially baseball, but I think Football is their weakest sport right now. Most likely in my opinion because they have not had a league, it doesn’t draw the same enthusiasm driving all over the state for games. With the NWC Entry that may change a bit.

I think the shelby Fort plays a MAC style football ... and you are probably right about the enthusiasm.... but if Parkway or St Johns had left the conference.. they would have jumped to play in the MAC in all sports.... even if it was to play for 3rd place in football..LOL!!!

I'll take driving to Fort Loramie versus Delphos. Plus, i know the establishments better to rehydrate.
Well let's look at it

Fort Loramie- 85 boys 9-11
Delphos St Johns- 62 boys 9-11

Would Loramie really do worse than what DSJ is current doing in football? My answer is no they wouldn't. The Blue Jays also won the league in Basketball too. Something that the Redskins would definitely be competitive in from the jump. Baseball too

And yes them being right in the MAC footprint helps with travel.

That is the point. I am sure Chip Otten tells his players are goal is to do no worse than "DSJ". And nobody is arguing FL wouldn't do well in other sports has anybody posted that. Bball and other sports not football numbers don't matter much look at Russia in bball but in football they do. DSJ has 18 boys combined playing JR. High football, Coldwater has 45 boys in 7th grade football alone, numbers do matter. For football FL is better off in the NWC IMO, if the goal is to be competitive and win and the SCAL is a good league for FL in other sports.

Edit: DSJ is a good ex. of strength in numbers, back in the late 90's - 2000 DSJ had close to 100 players on their roster and they were crushing almost every team on their schedule now the Blue Jays struggle to have a roster of 40 players, numbers matter in football.

They matter, but outside of ML who I believe is still the largest D7 school, FL size of roster is very comparable, if not larger than most D7 schools. If your only aspiration is to win the league than the NWC is better, but if your aspiration is to maybe win a state championship in the lower division, being in the MAC the whole year would be better. I mean it's just a fact. The only Non MAC team to win D7 is JFK and McComb. The other 9 have gone to MAC schools and none of those other MAC schools outside of ML has won the MAC outright during their run.

Just out of curiosity, if a MAC team were to up and leave, who would you suggest would be a better fit for the conference than Shelby Fort?

I'll hang up and listen.

You know, I wonder if Greenville would be interested. The class sizes are dropping to around 175 per grade. Their travel is not so good. They are getting blasted in most sports. NOT SOFTBALL. If the MAC needed a team.....in a weird kind of way I think it would be good for both. Not better than FL but the drive wouldn't be bad especially if they were replacing one of the far north schools. The facilities are good. Greenville might get a little better participation knowing they might win a few more competitions.
Just throwing that out there for you all to comment on my weirdness.

It is true Greenville is pretty much a loner. Smaller than all other MVL schools and out in the boondocks. I would think SWBL wouldn’t be a terrible fit for them but they’re still pretty far away from all of those schools.

No.
Just. No. To. Greenville.

Wouldn't be a perfect geographic fit, but Greenville feels more like a fit for the WBL vs the MAC to me.

If we are playing the game ‘who should the MAC add’ - what about Spencerville, Jefferson or Bath? We always talk about this as what would be best for Mercer/Auglaize county schools, but one or two of those teams could really balance things out for Parkway and St Johns.
