Versailles vs. Fort Loramie

Tigers come off a nice 33-0 win over Milton Union. Fort Loramie loses to Minster. This will be the last meeting between these two schools. Versailles did some nice things, but also had some struggles. Let's see if they clean those up this Friday. It looks like one of the OLB and RB will be out for at least a few games. Hope he gets good news on the MRI. The other OLB/RB is back on a play count this week.
What does Fort Loramie bring to the table this week?

They will play again within 5 yrs......

I'd agree with the sentiment here. We performed better against Minster than what I thought which was positive, we just don't have the team to compete with the top half of the MAC this season. I expect the offense to improve as the season goes (we have switched from spread to I-Formation this season) but the defense is where improvement really needs to come fast. Minster ran all over the place on Friday.

One day they will
Not any time soon, why would Fort Loramie want their program to become another Fort Recovery or Parkway in football. FL is not a big school district enrollment number wise 85 boys. Why come to the MAC and get your head beat in and risk becoming like FR. They would be great in other MAC sports but why become an also ran in football.

Edit: In 2020 Fort Recovery took Coldwater to the wire in a playoff game now look at Fort Recovery.

Because maybe they want to challenge themselves 😀

Fort Loramie doesn't have a challenge in the NWC. How is that challenge working for Fort Recovery, Parkway, DSJ? Marion Local, Versailles, Coldwater are not going anywhere, and a teams football numbers are not going to increase when you have losing season after losing season.
Iron sharpens Iron. 85 boys isn't that much smaller than Minster. I would be hard pressed to think that Ft Loramie would be worse than Anna where they hang around as mid tier most years and then have a great year every couple years.

It worked great for Fort Recovery, Minster, and New Bremen after all had terrible years and rebounded to win state. But you don’t even have to win state for it to work out - Loramie would gain more intense games, closer travel, and better home gates. It doesn’t matter what you and I think, but if I’m a betting man I’d say they’d like to be in the MAC.

Anna is almost twice the size of FL. Numbers do matter esp. when you get below 90. Can't sharpen iron in the NWC? Be interesting to know who decided not to renew this series V - FL, doubt it was Versailles maybe, but non-league games are hard to come by for most MAC schools. New Bremen football was on life support and Fort Recovery is close to it, players don't like going out for a sport like football to get physically beat up and not have any W's to show for it. Easy to say from a ML viewpoint to join the MAC and lose to ML, Coldwater, Versailles on a yearly basis.

Edit: There is only one reason why the MAC keeps the rotating schedule to keep " the bottom schools " happy so they don't have to play the ML's, Versailles, and Coldwater.

What's Minsters enrollment? Roughly 90. I am actually curious to know what makes you think 85 is different than 90? Fort Recovery needs a new coach. Niekamp had his place, he got them a state title, but no one wants to play for him. Parkways issues are a lot deeper than the X's and O's. Their whole image as a school district is mediocrity. FL at least has the stuff in place to be successful. And no iron does not sharpen iron as hard in the NWC.

84 usually more near a 100 and Minster has18 srs. this year the Jr and soph. classes have 18 players combined hard to be consistent winning games with numbers like that. FL doesn't have the most important "stuff" and that is players. This year when they scrimmaged ML they may have had 50 players on the sideline at most, that is not going to cut it in the MAC esp. after injuries. Minster lost Niemeyer that's really going to be a big blow for Minster, ML could lose Hoelscher to injury and they would still win. Why because of the Flyers depth. 1st things 1st though, a team would have to leave the MAC for any other school to join.

not everything is about football, but haven't they competed pretty good over the last 5-10 years? heck if it wasn't for a bad play call in overtime and a miracle catch by the the flyers on a 4th down call, the Shelby Fort should have beat the flyers... also even you in your way of thinking, they probably compete in a bunch of other sports better then your flyers do... don't you think?

Loramie would JOIN in a minute in ALL sports!!! and they would compete well in ALL sports in the MAC

Our Flyers won a state title with 44 guys on the roster and only 6 seniors. Having 50 guys on the sideline isn't that bad considering the state of the other programs in D7. Will they necessarily beat ML? No, but no team minus New Bremen in 2020 has beaten ML in D7 history in the post season. We shouldn't compare Ft Loramie to Coldwater or ML. That's not a fair comparison. Saying they wouldn't consistently on a yearly basis compete with the Annas, Minsters, New Bremens and even Versailles for the most part just isn't true. Plus their other sports are very competitive and beat MAC opponents routinely unlike Parkway.

Yes I think it was 46 players but Marion Local also has Tim Goodwin and New Bremen almost shut their football program down, posters keep forgetting that. And FR won state 10 years ago but are they going to have enough players to field a "competitive" team next season. For a small school like FL it would be very hard to get players to continually come out when you have 4 - 5 losing teams in a row which could very well happen. Not to compare yourself with the best teams in the league than why join? So, you can be the 4th best team in the league, maybe the 3rd best team in the league in a really good year but most years be in the bottom 5 likely that is good motivation. I want to win not be 3rd or 4th best team in the league but to each their own.

well maybe just ML and Coldwater should just form a league on their own ... and Loramie, like i said for most part , their OTHER sports teams compete better then the Steiners do... are you able to come down off your High horse and at least agree to that?

that last sentence.... what a RICHARD!!!

This is a football forum right, and I am all talking about football not the other sports.

I don't know what that means I guess a slam, but I will take it as a compliment as my brother in law's name was Richard (God rest his soul) and he was the best man I ever knew. If you don't want talk sports but instead trade insults I can do that.

i thought that last sentence was a SHatty thing to say... how's that.. but to each his own

being in the MAC is about ALL sports... don't ya think? and Loramie in BOTH girl and boys sports have competed very well.... and so has other schools that you like to take SHOTS at........ but what I have seen, that is the type of person you are... good luck with that!!!

Keep cryin. My point was FL IMO does not have big enough enrollment to be competitive in football in the MAC again we are talking about football. If another school left the MAC, it won't be because of other sports it will be because they are not competitive in football period. I doubt Versailles was the school that did not renew this series might be wrong but if I am right why would FL not renew it if they have ideas of joining the MAC?

St Henry hasn't been relevant in the MAC really since like 2012 and haven't won state in nearly 20 years. DSJ is really struggling and haven't really been relevant since 2012 also. Like you said New Bremen was on hard times. What makes you think that the Shelby Fort wouldn't come in and adapt to the MACs style of play any better than those teams. Yeah you may not win the MAC but the competition in the MAC has helped numerous teams win titles when ML was up a division and so forth. The same can not be said for the NWC

so if they would finish 3rd.. that wouldn't be good enough? I know you don't ever give Minster any credit, but we have over the years not have had over 60 or so players on the roster probably closer to 50 playing.

the Steiners have a nice group of athletes walking the halls now... and that helps.. but over the years they haven't been able to compete in Baseball or track until the last few years... that is the way the cycle works...

how about trying to be a little humble in your posts...

by the way, wondering if you played football? did you play under Goodwin?

Enrollment size does matter, Versailles has twice the enrollment FL does, also more importantly V has 80 players on their roster they lost a good linebacker to injury but with their depth they can handle injuries better than FL or most MAC schools. Does it mean FL in a blue moon could beat V yeah they could but most years no. It's a numbers game. The only reason and only reason Marion Local can beat V and Coldwater is Tim Goodwin, ML still has a losing record vs both teams even though V has not def. ML since 2012, and Goodwin I believe is 10 - 5 vs Otten. Enrollment size does matter, and I believe FL is in a football conference that fits them well the MAC not so much not in football. The Hetrick's, Reeds, Ottens, Goodwin they are/were in a league of their own.
