URSULINE & CARDINAL MOONEY IN 2023?

Think it's going on now and I'm sure jaws will give a good update.
As far as an opening line for the big red, I would think it would be just about even imo.

Ursuline/Glenoak was probably the best scrimmage I have ever seen. Glenoak scored with 1:06 left and got the 2 point to go up 15-14. Ursuline went 65 yds in 2 plays that took 21 sec to go up 20-15. Glenoak hit a hail mary in the endzone as time expired only to have it called back because of an ineligible man down field. Was definitely exciting.

They went 20 plays each way in the first part of the scrimmage and both teams played well. Ursuline forced a couple of turnovers and glen oak did score on some of the backups. The Eagles have a very good running game. The Irish o-line played pretty well, especially once the game like conditions started. They whiffed on a couple of blitzes early but overall did the job. Irish skill looked the part and played really well. There are still some things to work on but that's the point of the scrimmage.

The JVs lost 3-2 I believe and the freshmen dominated theirs.

Was our run game effective at all with the young line?

What was your take on GlenOak

What was your take on GlenOak
Very good running game. They run that counter trey nicely. #3 was a real difference maker with the ball. Defensively they weren't bad either. They did struggle a bit with the Irish speed at wideout. Had a few PIs because they were beaten deep. They had a lot of juice on the sidelines, which isn't always the case in scrimmages. They should have a good season. I think both teams will really benefit from tonight.

Good to hear... wish Lynch had more speed but he runs hard. Glad the o line is coming along.
Lynch showed a lot of burst, especially on the drive to make it 14-7. Glenoak had some good speed in the secondary but Lynch looked fast.

I could not make it to the scrimmage today and all I was told was that it ended up 3-1 Painesville Riverside. It was 2-1 PR and Mooney drove all the way to the Riverside 3-yard line looking to tie it at 2. The Cards than had some kind of fumble, snap, etc and Riverside returned it 97 yards to make it 3-1. As I said last week the D and the OL still need some work. Hopefully they do so quickly as they open on the road at Lake Catholic next week.
Hope to see you next week. Should be a good one.

I suspect that neither the Big Red nor the Irish wanted to open with each other but that typical scheduling difficulties for each school gave them little choice.

I assume DC and Lynch are making most plays, who else is offensively? Who is splitting carries with Lynch? How did the DL do on passing downs? I assume donlow was generating pressure, but was anybody else?

Taylor is basically uncoverable. It was that way in the 7v7s and it was that way last night. All the PIs were against him because he had the corner beaten badly. He also had a very nice int.

Donlow carried the ball a few times. Noce change of pace as a power back. Even though they went up twmpo it was still a little vanilla. No DC jets or wildcat or anything like that.

Glenoak didn't pass very much but the DL did get pressure when they did. Both DEs played well. Donlow did his thing of course.

A little off the topic, but what’s the opinion on Chaney’s program. They made the playoffs last year, but just wonder what’s the general consensus of where they are at this point in time. Thanks.

Had two michigan recruits last year. I believe their decline begins this season.

Like the UrsulineFan said, losing two kids that were part of a top five recruiting class nationally is going to hurt. Chaney will always have athletes but they won't be what they were last season.

The QB jones is really good, I’m sure they will be ok

Thanks for the replies UrsulineFan75, Jaws31 and 330Football. Perry scrimmaged them last night and won 7-0 in two quarters. Panthers picked off 2 passes and recovered a fumble. I wasn’t there, but a couple friends text me that their QB was impressive running the ball in scrambling situations. Felt Perry had opportunities to score more but had some passes dropped that were wide open.
