UC Bearcats

I don’t know what to think of that performance today. The next two games will be more telling, as the opposition will be better.

The offense is light years ahead of last year. Sorsby at quarterback is the real deal, O-line is outstanding, RB's are legit, and Joe Royer is the next Travis Kelce........Defensively we are a little faster than last year, but we'll get our arse kicked at the line of scrimmage. Maybe if Corleone can get on the field it will help the D-line....They played it very vanilla today, and rushed 3 dropped 8 on every snap. Could be like the Brian Kelly days, where we just tried to out score everybody.

I think missing Corleone is a big deal to the middle of the DL. Yes, they should have someone somewhat capable of filling in to stop the likes of Townson but that’s another argument.

But yes! Sorsby and the offense looked great!

The Bearcats are currently 3.5-point road favorites heading into this Saturday's "Battle for the Victory Bell".

While the (relatively low) ceiling for this team dropped after the Pitt defeat, a win at Miami would keep hopes of bowl eligibility alive going into the conference slate.

Miami has Gabbert back at QB and this game will not be an easy one for UC. I see this as a 50/50 game at best; with Satterfield as coach, that’s not good.

Cats tried to give the game away. 🙄

It is hard for me, as an alum, to root for a team knowing they have the wrong head coach (and AD for that matter).

Maybe if they win a few Big 12 games, I’ll think differently; onto Houston.

Houston is the last winnable game on the schedule, barring any upsets. Sucks

If it means Sat gets fired at the end of the season then so be it. Quicker this mistake gets corrected the better

Ya gotta' hang with em'.....That loss to Pitt is still unforgivable, but coaches can wise up. When you have an O-line like we have, plus Corey Kiner and Joe Royer there's no reason to get too tricky on offense. If Satterfield would just fight that urge to show the world what a slick offensive mind he is and simply focus on what this bunch does well, things will be OK.....Here's hopin'.

The new kicker was a game changer yesterday. Hitting two 50+ yard field goals in his first game as the team's FG kicker is an incredible feat. The fact that he started his career at D3 Wittenberg and nearly gave up kicking altogether to be a regular student at UC makes his success all the more satisfying.

We haven't had a reliable money place kicker since Jonathan Ruffin 20 years ago. Even during the Dantonio, Kelly, and Fickell years our FG attempts were always shakey......This kid has a monster leg, that second FG he hit yesterday was a pressure kick. Hopefully he's the answer, Carter Brown missing that chip shot FG cost us the Pitt game.

Hawks is a stud…thought he had D1 talent in high school and was very surprised when he briefly ended up at Wittenberg.

Hope to see him succeed with the opportunities that he gets this year.

Houston's QB play was awful. I don't think UC will sniff another offense that bad from here on out. Nonetheless, it was a great 4 quarter performance and win.

Yeah, their QB play was bad.......and Houston's overall team speed is worse than ours was last year. Next two games are on the road, Texas Tech and UCF, will be a bit more of a challenge. Cats would be 4-0 if we hadn't given away that Pitt game. That one still stings.

UC now 1-6 under Satterfield when it’s a one possession game—not good.

I do not think this one is on him; injuries and refs BS on the final drive cost them a chance here.

Also, as much as the kicker was a feel good story, wondering if he loses his chances now.

That loss feels like so many of the Ls during basketball season.

Last night had the makings of a classic Big 12 game and will probably go down as one of the more "forgivable" losses of the Satterfield era thus far.

The missed FG going into halftime set the tone for a second half where we were constantly playing from behind.

The offense proved they can produce on the road in a tough environment but the self-inflicted wounds (Pryor fumble and Sorsby Pick 6) will have to cease if we're going to win future tough games like this one.

The defense is better with Corleone back but still has a ways to go when it comes to pass rush and open field tackling.

Other than Iowa St and Kansas St on the road, every remaining game on the schedule seems winnable. We'll see if the team can change their fortune in enough 50/50 games to hit their goal of 6-7 wins come December.

Great comparison, that’s exactly what this loss felt like.

Sorsby is so fun to watch. The Bearcats are very fortunate to have him. They’ll have a legit shot to win every game left on the schedule as long as he’s healthy. Will just need the defense to make some stops.

Yeah, can't hang this one on Satterfield. Losing Kiner on the first series was tough, and our open field tackling was brutal. The most disappointing part for me was our kicker missing those two kicks. I had hoped we had that problem solved. If you can't make kicks when it's winning time, you can't kick. I can live with everything else.

Anyone have the status of the injured RBs for the Cats?

Kiners injury is rib/oblique, nothing to do with legs. Never did hear what Pryors injury was, or his status. Kiner runs violently through contact, an oblique injury could really be problematic. Bearcats bye week came at a good time. Hopefully, Kiner can get back. Pryor and Covey are serviceable, but they ain't Kiner. Sorsby definitely doesn't need to be running the ball 20 times a game.

Thanks. I thought Pryor pulled/tweaked a hamstring. That is strictly my guess—from body language and movement after his run.

Nevertheless, good week to be off, but need Kiner back.

Per Cincinnati.com

“Satterfield said Tuesday he anticipates those injured to play with the exception of defensive lineman Cam Roetherford who left the Texas Tech game early.”

And …

“Satterfield says no Bearcats opted to transfer after four games.”

That's more then Malzahn at UCF can say.....speaking of UCF, Bearcats are supposed to tee it up in Orlando on Saturday. They've had eight inches of rain ahead of the Category 5 Hurricane and Tornado's in Florida. Wonder if they have a Plan B......

I know. 😬 Saw the exodus at UCF (and other schools). I cannot imagine trying to coach in this era.

As far as weather, we bailed on a trip there this weekend to see the Cats. We’ve traveled there for hoops and wanted to see a game at the Bounce House—not this year.

Go Bearcats!

Between the hurricane and the QB change, UC had a lot of things fall into place in their favor, but they still had to win the game and they did just enough to do that today.

Quite possibly the worst football game, start to finish, I've seen a Bearcat team play in a while. UCF is terrible this year. They ain't saying nothing, but I think Sorsby has a broken finger or two on his non throwing hand. I'd rather play like crap and win than play great and lose. Thank God we were playing UCF today.
