"Vikings Can't Keep Up with Unbeaten Tigers"

Leading 11-9, Pickerington Central went on a 17-2 run to pull further away. The Tigers then extended their lead with a 15-point run, making it difficult for Teays Valley to catch up.

"Obviously, when you're going against the fifth-ranked team in the central district and in division one, and who are undefeated in conference play, you have to bring your best," said TV coach Trevor Younkin. "Our girls battled and brought a lot to the table, but we just didn't hit some shots and took care of the ball at times. They capitalized on our mistakes with easy transition layups. Despite the loss, I'm thrilled with the girls' attitude and fight. They didn't give up, and it would have been easy to throw in the towel. I'm very proud of that and I told them in the locker room after the game, our record doesn't matter—whether it's 7-15 or whatever. Everyone is 0-0 going into the tournament, and we're going to use this experience to fuel us moving forward."

Next up for the Vikings will be their opening OHSAA tournament game against Franklin Heights on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm tip.
