Toledo Area Hoops 24-25

Anthony Wayne feels different this year. They have been really good , but this year they are playing some of the most dominant basketball I can remember watching around here. Fingers crossed they keep this up through the State tourney.

Congratulations to the Norwalk Lady Truckers who handed the Bellevue Lady Red their first loss and keeps Norwalk undefeated to date with a 41-38 win!

Did Perrysburg have a bunch of girls quit? Seemed to have 3 players missing from their paper roster while getting beat by Findlay tonight

“The Yellow Jackets were without five players, including four starters — 5-foot-11 junior center Hayden Siebenaller, 5-7 sophomore guard Lauren McConnachie and 6-0 junior forward Sophie Mitchell, plus 5-9 senior guard Chloe Kilbride is injured. Most of the others were out with illness.”

From the S-T. Later in the article it says Kilbride is likely out for the year.

Someone from the NWOAL.. I’ve seen Evergreen on quite the slide. During this I haven’t seen Ricker in any recent box score. She always brought the toughness to that team. Prayers that she’s not seriously injured. Anyone know what’s going on there?

aaaaa What?

FWIW, Start beat Bowsher 90-1 (and Northwood 75-7 and Woodward 90-9).
Just to clarify Start beat Waite 90-1, not Bowsher. Bowsher is pretty solid. Waite and Woodward are historically bad. They both lost the couple decent players they had. Northwood is pretty rough too. St. Ursula should never lose by that margin.

Why can’t St. Ursula get the program going? It seems like the school has a lot to offer.

SUA is so poorly coached. They dont know how to handle a press. This is 100% on the AD. Keep hiring these clowns and this is what you get.
This sounds like the exact blue print that Northwood follows from coaches being unserious to AD just collecting a check and being way of there head

Oak Harbor hangs on against Maumee in OT. Barring a setback to Eastwood it looks as if they will split the division with
NBC
Genoa is tough, the Sisters are legit, but the rest of the team is quite banged up after they played maybe too much basketball this off season.
Oak Harbor is right there with them if not better. Year 2 with Coach Heller, the system is installed and I expect them to play 3 close games with Genoa again this year including meeting in the post season.
Fostoria is ok... Middlebrooks looks a little bit more like herself, however, we will see if she can get to the basket like she used to pre ACL. Johnson is a rebounding machine, but she just hasn't been able to finish. They also have another new coach who wont be able to keep up with Genoa/Oak Harbor.
Maumee- This is their chance. A lot of experience. One more run with Lucy Porter. They just arent as physical/deep as everyone above.

Major drop after that. Eastwood graduated a ton. Rossford isn't very deep past Williams, Lake isn't deep, and Otsego doesn't have any guards.

TAAC- Not Toledo Christian by default! Reghan Markley is going to have a breakout year. I'm talking 25 points plus per game. Jenna Reed is very talented and will get 15ish. However, Ottawa Hills is loaded! To go along with Berenzweig, and Snyder, they have the top 2 new comers to the league by far. They add the younger Van Slooten sister who transfered in from Notre Dame along with a top 5 freshmen in the area, Skiver. If they can get any play out of the PG slot, they should win the league easily. ..
Ottawa Hills will be the champs.

Tiffin Calvert is not going to be close to Gibsonburg... even with the graduations... Rishty is talented, but she's not carrying the rest of that squad past Elly Evarts.

NLL Cardinal- might be the worst pool of talent for a D1-D3 league in the State. Some of the worst teams in each of the schools history.

1/2 Napoleon and Fremont will battle it out. Napoleon is very long, Kruse, Cisero are a nice duo. Ross has Wolfe, Heidelburg, and Tucker is a good rebounder. They have a decent Soph big returning, that played well and also plays out of control at times. Cant remember her name.

3. Clay has a first time coach, only real basketball player they have is Quisno. Nice little PG. Not deep enough to play with anyone above and will often play down to the competition below this season based on volatility.

Everyone below this line is really bad.. Wouldn't beat anyone in the Buckeye Divisions JV team..

4. Southview. Dorn returns, shes a nice big, but other than that they had a very poor turnout this year. This team misses the previous lady coach for sure.

5. Bowling Green is very bad. Can't dribble, don't have size. It's gonna be ugly.

6. Springfield- Clifton did them wrong, absolutely bare cupboards. They would compete with Scott to finish last in the City league.

NLL Buckeye-
1 Anthony Wayne- Not much needs to be said. I hope they can make a run at the end of the year.
2 NV is really talented. NV gets Kral back I believe to go with the already loaded lineup of Biggs, Claudius, Cannon, and Shamy. They should be loaded.

3 Perrysburg's returns Kilbride and 3 solid starters. They lack a true post player. It also appears not only did they lose Thames , but I’m not seeing Ayla Turk on the roster for this year. That could spell trouble. They will battle with Whitmer for 3rd.

4 Whitmer- Deilly and Finch are tough. I havent got to see them this year yet during scrimmage season to see what else they have.

5 Findlay- They lost a lot, however, they have some exciting Freshmen coming in. They may be slightly down this year, but I could see them jumping to number 1 by next year with whats graduating in the league.

On the contrary this side of the NLL is one of the best around. Aside from Anthony Wayne, I could see 2-5 having barn burners every night.

NWOAL -
1. Patrick Henry is the favorite with Crossman and Christman back.
2. Archbold's lock left defense gives everyone fits. They are one of the best defensive teams around. They were young, bringing back Gericke and Forward.
3. Evergreen - Not many teams move without the basketball as well as they do. They have Ricker and plenty of shooters.
4-6 Wauseon, Liberty Center/ Bryan Not sure how this is all going to shake out. Saw Bryan in the summer, I thought they would reload with the younger Thiel, but they didn't look good.
7 Delta- Delta had a really good season last year. Their coach does a great job. I think they lost a little bit much here to be competitive.

8 Swanton- Going to be rough.
Oak Harbor survives tonight against Maumee. Looks like barring a setback against Eastwood they will split the NBC with Genoa. Ottawa Hills ran over TC tonight. That conference will be a split championship as well. The NLL Cardinal is going to be split between Napoleon and Ross. Anthony Wayne obviously won with ease. Patrick Henry and the team I was most wrong about Delta still have unfinished business if Delta can get by Wauseon again to decide the NWOAL. I still think PH takes it without problem. But Delta like I said is so well coached. She should be Regional coach of the year without question!

Having a stellar freshman helps Delta out a ton. Nothing against the coach at all. I am sure they are good. But having a freshman that is around the top of the league in scoring has a lot to do with that really good record.
