Volleyball is out of season.. J.O. is started but even that isn't full swing yet I don't think.

JO

JO ~ AAU basketball...same difference, but an opportunity for a player to experience various coaching strengths...and learning opportunities when you are stagnent with a HS coach....the whole thing can get out of line, but in today's HS athletics it seems necessary to make the HS Varsity teams you need to have your hand in the game...whatever the game may be from a much earlier age and more than just a HS season....and yes money can be a part of it....when the parents get too involved and it takes a strong coach to build a program...they have to be so much more than just a coach....that has the love of the game.....to be effective.

Dirk,

I'm sure you've seen JO volleyball and thus know better than to make a comment like that.

oh yes, i've seen it before. all i can say is what a waste. i can't believe they actually pamper these girls like that of a football or baseball players. you can take something seriously, but when you go to one of these jo tournaments or whatever, it's insane. should this teach me a lesson to cut my lawn with fierce intensity? c'mon, gimme a break!

money!!

money!!

No you are wrong. You either have not really experienced J.O. volleyball at the open level or you know so little about the game that you can not see its value. The better JO teams would win most HS leagues in this area and it is where some of the real development of these young girls takes place. It is also a very good place to be noticed by scouts as the level and variety of talent is excellent.

scouts? are these "athletes" slated to make millions of dollars playing volleyball?

choke on that one baby!!

Actually, there is a professional league that has started up in the US as well as Europe and in beach volleyball you can make a nice living. But, as MCGal said, I was speaking of college scouts and they are in abundance in the JO tournaments. And yes, they are very good 'athletes'. Would you care to play against my daughter’s JO team? I might be able to arrange that if you and your buddies want to get embarrassed and see what kind of athletes they really are. :p

just butting in here......... would you arrange for your girls team to play dirk in all sports? it's not just a specialized event to give an advantage is it?

I would in a couple of years as being 8th graders they would be at more of a significant physical develoment disadvantage in some other sports. However, as to this thread, he was the one who sarcastically hinted that they were not athletes because they are girls playing Volleyball. I was just offering a chance for him to prove his beliefs(or more likely be proven wrong). :D

hey Dirk-O-Mania
okay i am yahtzee's daughter and i play J/o... and as for you saying that its a joke and there is no competition.. your wrong, i'd like to see you go out there and play in a tournament all day and work your butt off. You couldn't compete nor keep up. Until we see this master volleyball skills of yours i suggest you shut your mouth about it. You obviously have a problem and feel the need to put people who are better then you down to feel better about yourself, cuz everyone thats played volleyball or seen it played right sure as heck knows its a sport, and a hard and fun one at that. It takes a lot of talent to play and shouldn't be put down they way it is by you. Have you ever watched a college game? Womens or mens? i'd be willing to bet that either way if you got hit with one of there slams you'd go crying home. I'd like to see you put your face up in one of those players challenging them to hit on you. And as for the scouts at J/O tournaments, there are numerous college scouts there. J/O is a very developmental program and very competitive. Anyone that has ever participated in it would tell you so. Also, as my dad said, there is now a proffessional volleyball league. So maybe someday some of these girls will be making these large sums of money, and hopefully i'll be one of them there to prove you wrong and show you whats up. I hate to see people like you put down such a great sport. Just my opinion, and i'm sure many agree!:)

Hey it's Yahtzee's daughter. We were just talking about you in another thread. ;) Don't get too hyped up about DIRK he's just like that. You will get used to his antics if you join here, and talk to ME ;) I agree though with everything you just said...and many most likely DO agree with ya.

Cg...
