NFL: All teams must add minority offensive coach
To ensure more opportunities for diverse candidates, the NFL has added requirements on the hiring of offensive assistant coaches, and women in general.

What if the coach is half- Indigenous Canadian and half Irish-American. Will that suffice? Why can't the coach be a defensive coach or special teams coach? What haven't we had a "diverse" Commissioner? I nominate Kim Kardashian.
Most teams already have black assistant coaches ( Let's face it, when any sports organization says " diverse," they pretty much always mean black), so it won't be a problem. But the real issue that has been brought up is the lack of " diverse" head coaches.

While the intentions are good, mandates like this belittle the very people they are trying to "help". By mandating it, you are saying one of two things:
1) The group of people being "helped" are somehow inferior to others, and would not be hired without this mandate.
2) The people doing the hiring care more about race/ethnicity/gender than hiring the best person and winning football games.
I don't think either of these things is true. NFL is just grandstanding.

The NFL is very smart. They know that all they have to do is keep steering the ship straight...no pun intended. The NFL will never take a stance on anything remotely controversial. They are #1. Heck sports talk shows talk more about the NFL than anything else, and there isn't a game to be played in 5+ months! They know that more people will watch the NFL if it's diversely friendly, than the number that will go away because of their wokeness. We just put up with the crap because we love football.
This mandate might signal trouble for DeShaun Watson, because it's pretty evident that the league wants to up its female demographic. If they don't come down hard on Watson, then all of their " good will" and intentions toward drawing women will evaporate. Unlike the atmosphere for Ben and Lewis, the new woke culture is stirred up, and they won't stand for anything but the NFL proving how serious it is. Look at the number of female anchors on sports talk shows who were not on the air a few years ago. They won't stand for it.

I was going to rip this hard, but the rule just says you can interview women in place of black male coaches. It’s moronic, no woman belongs on an NFL staff. IDC how sexist that sounds, if you didn’t at least play in college, the players won’t respect you. Can you blame them? They go to war and brutalize their bodies. Why would they listen to someone who has never gone through that grind?

Any Business should hire the most qualified person who they also think will be a good fit. That person can be black,white,Mexican, gay,straight, trans, weirdo whatever as long as they can do the damn job and work with others in the process.

Agree 100%. This is ground hog day every year. If a black coach gets over looked, it's always perceived as race. I honestly don't know if the woke will ever let up until all 32 head coaches and all assistants are black. It's incredible how two-faced these folks are.

Boy, when you put is that way doesn't it sound so simple?? This is where the Rooney rule backfired on it intentions. Teams are always free to hire who they want to, and many black coaches have been hired over the years. Dennis Green, Tony Dungy, Ray Rhodes, Marvin Lewis, Art Shell, Herman Edwards, Lovie Smith, Terry Robiske, Romeo Crennell, Mike Tomlin, Emmitt Thomas, Mike Singletary, Jim Caldwell, Raheem Morris, Perry Fewell, Leslie Frazier, Mel Tucker, Todd Bowles, Hue Jackson, Vance Joseph and Mike Flores. Yet now teams are REQUIRED to interview a minority candidate, no matter what.
