I may be wrong but I thought Sam McDowell was from Pittsburgh Central Catholic. I don't think that Cleveland Central Catholic even existed when McDowell was in high school.

Barry Larkin-25 Buddy Bell-27 LOL
Mark Lewis at 207-10 yrs in the majors, behind Kip Young at 200-1.5 yrs in the bigs WTH

I doubt there are too many Baseball HOFers that were the 25th best player in their state.

You are correct. Born in Pittsburgh and went to school there

Played against Lewis & Griffey.
Fantastic HS players.
Geiffey is MLB legend but Mark Lewis had a decent MLB career too.
Just wasn’t a superstar.

Impressive list but leaving off Larkin diminishes the credibility of this list.

I would argue that Griffey Jr. should be at #1. Arguably one of the top 5 outfielders to ever play the game, in my opinion.

Actually Pete Rose should be #1 without argument but he's a dirtbag so I get it. I would also concur that Griffey should be ahead of Schmidt but both were great players.

Absolutely no arguments about the above statement. All are Hall-of-Famers for a reason....not so much with Rose though. lol

The list above is garbage.

No Cy Young? Rollie Fingers was born in Steubenville (moved away as a kid). Dave Justice probably does not deserve top 10 but he does deserve to be mentioned.

As for the list we were given I understand the case for Griffey Jr. but Mike Schmidt deserves top billing. He was a 3 time MVP won a WS (WS MVP) and was a 6x golden glover.

Barry Larkin needs to be top 10.

Dave Parker should be in the HOF.

Cincinnati produced some dynamite ball players.

When I first looked at the list I was thinking the same thing about Cy Young's omission especially but then I realized the topic said the list is of players that attended Ohio high schools. Then I remembered reading somewhere that Cy Young only had a 6th grade education so I assume that is why he is not on the list, maybe the others mentioned also, they did not attend Ohio high schools? Otherwise they certainly should be included.

In 1980’s playing in Cincy played with or against:

Ken Griffey Jr.
Mark Lewis
Tim Naehring
Karl Tuffy Rhoades… google him
Lee May Jr.
Tommy Kramer
Chris Lutz
Jeff Hartsock
Tom Poppelwell
Pete Rose Jr.
Jay Owens

…. and many more total bad asses.

It’s a looooong list.
