I was hoping Chapman would be a closer, which is still an option if starting doesn't work out.

And since Chapman isn't going to be the closer that probably means Cordero will be back, which IMO is not good. They can't afford to pay a closer more than $3-4M. Look at the success Tampa Bay had with a bullpen making a total of $5M. Thank Cordero and let him walk. Just don't let him go to St. Louis!

Chapman will only be worth his money as a starter. And the Reds NEED an ace. They just have to get lucky and hope he works out. IMO this is a move they really had no choice but to make.

As far as Cordero goes, he really has been damn good for the Reds. They need to try to cut his pay in half at least IMO, and the contract should be no more than two years.

I'm ready to cut ties with Volquez, but if my answer has to be someone who was in the rotation for most of the season, it'd be Willis.

I'm definitely ready to get rid of Volquez. He took a huge step backwards this season. I'm sure the Reds were obviously expecting way more out of him.

I wasn't. He was terrible in Texas and the Reds idiotically traded him for Josh Hamilton. What did the Reds expect? As i predicted at the time, it would go down as one of the worst trades in Reds' history, and now as we sit hear talking about cutting ties with Volquez, i have been proven correct.

Hindsight is 20/20. For all we knew Hamilton was 2 seconds away from relapse and not in the MLB.

For the 1000th time, the Reds would not have been able to afford Hamilton. They got a player for him instead of just letting him go away as a free agent.

Either way it couldn't possibly be one of the worst trades in Reds history. Hamilton has played like half the games since he's been with the Rangers and the Reds have been better than they were for quite a while.

Hamilton did win AL MVP though. I just fap to the idea of this in 2012:

1. Brandon Phillips - 2B
2. Zach Cozart - SS
3. Joey Votto - 1B
4. Scott Rolen - 3B
5. Josh Hamilton - LF
6. Jay Bruce - RF
7. Drew Stubbs - CF
8. Devin Mesoraco - C

i woult literally go to all 97,000 games, baseball needs fewer games, now that i have time to sit and watch oh god what am i doing to myself, benagals play like 16 games a year watthe why are there so many games oh god

Rolen ain't hittin in front of Hamilton in any lineup this life or the next

I know why it was done, but the whole splitting up lefties thing is irrelevant when you're talking about guys as good as Votto and Hamilton

No hindsight for me. I was complaining about the trade the instant it happened. All of yappi-land thought i was nuts. Maybe the reds couldn't have afforded him long term, but my read on Volquez was dead on.

So you knew 100% that Hamilton wasn't going to relapse? Alright then: Where will I be working when I graduated? Or is your sight of the future limited to sports?

I hope Chapman works on his delivery so he doesn't blow his arm/elbow out in 2012 or 2013.....the human arm is not able to throw a pitch in the high 90's to 100's for very long...with out injury...IMHO....:soapbox:

dont try to say that one of the best players in all of baseball is going to relapse just because you want to get high twbb,...ya thats right... you want to shoot the lsd and smoke yourself out of the realty that you are beneath the wheel ...so you hope htat Hamilton gets back on drugs ...well, Hamiltion is now God fearing and the only reason Cards may win this thing is because Hamilton is hurt ...otherwise Texas would have already wrapped this thing up .... you cant fool hoff

I literally have no idea what you are talking about in half of this post.

You were spot on with the Prince Fielder to Cincinnati trade too. Think they'll make him an offer this offseason?
