Teays Valley Dominates Franklin Heights 72-37
The Teays Valley Lady Vikings put on a show Wednesday night, dominating the Franklin Heights Falcons 72-37. Cooper McManaway and Tessa Horsley led the charge, combining for 26 points and 12 rebounds.
The Lady Vikings got off to a hot start, going on a 17-point run to take a 39-17 lead at halftime. Teays Valley's offense was clicking, shooting 9-15 in the first half. The team's dominance continued in the second half, with the Lady Vikings outscoring Franklin Heights 49-32.
The Lady Vikings' scoring was led by Cooper McManaway with 14 points, followed by Tessa Horsley, who recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Avery Mann added 10 points, while Areyana Karshner and Cami Robins chipped in with 9 and 8 points, respectively. Amelia Brumfield scored 6 points, Allie Rice had 4 points, and Kylie Burgett added 3 points. Rounding out the scoring were Jersey Jackson, Mallory Frabbot, and Cali Banks, each with 2 points.
Franklin Heights was led by Riley Hambel, who scored 22 points. Other notable contributors for the Falcons included Gracie Cornell with 4 points, Isa Musa with 7 points, Tiaonna Blair with 1 point, and McDonald with 2 points. As a team, Franklin Heights shot 14-0 from the field, 2-0 from three-point range, and 7-10 from the free-throw line, while grabbing 21 rebounds.
"Great team win," said Teays Valley coach Trevor Younkin. "Everyone who was healthy was able to score. We played hard and played disciplined. Extremely happy with our team's performance and effort tonight. Now we have four days to prepare for a very talented Worthington Kilbourne team. We will focus on the next few practices to be ready for Monday night."
Teays Valley will advance to the sectional final and they will face off against 3rd-seeded Worthington Kilbourne on Monday, February 17 at 7 PM.
