I’m going to guess travel mostly. Northridge is a quick 20 min drive down I-70, where as Washington Court House is a 70 min haul. Also points might’ve been a factor. WCH typically wins 4-5 games most years, where as Northridge is more likely to win 7-8 games especially with the Three Rivers being kind of down.

Almost coming towards the end of the year, looking forward to summer and 7/7 and scrimmages. What all 7/7 scrimmages does everyone have. Valley View in the past has scrimmaged Xenia and this year will scrimmage Marion Local and do the 7/7 with Northridge, Preb Shaw and Talawanda and are in the Social Justice 7/7

I know when I was in school, Wilmington had a 7 on 7 agaisnt Waynesville. Not sure if that one still happens.

What are some of the must see games this year?
Non-division games:

Bellbrook vs Tippecanoe (Week 1)
Edgewood vs Oak Hills (Week 1)
Valley View vs Coldwater (Week 1)
Bellbrook vs Bellefontaine (Week 2)
Edgewood vs Springboro (Week 2)
Bellbrook vs Valley View (Week 3)
Edgewood vs Badin (Week 3)
Ross vs Wilmington (Week 4)
Bellbrook vs Kettering Alter (Week 5)
Ross vs Harrison (Week 5)

These ones caught my attention mostly..

A lot of BIG games in the SWBL this year. I cannot wait to go watch some of these. Bellbrook looks like the running away favorite for the SWBL title but Edgewood showed some life at the end of the year wonder what they got cookin over there in Trenton. Saw Franklin's levy failed last night, they are in a world of hurt for sports and the school.

Bellbrook should be the favorites, but I expect Edgewood to be a thorn in their side. Also those non conference games are TOUGH. Edgewood is destined to get back on track and have a good year eventually.

Isn’t Franklin a school losing enrollment as well? That might hurt their enrollment even more…

From Dayton Daily News

Franklin has so much industry to fund schools. I’m a little confused at the issue in Franklin. Milton-Union passed an operating levy but this district has hardly any industry to support it.

"so much industry" only results in a piece of the revenue that the school district sees. in their case, 40% of their revenue is from local sources and another ~40% from the state.

also the fact that a district has "so much industry" doesn't necessarily mean anything. the state factors this in when determining how much state money to disperse. so if district xyz has multi-million dollar homes and pulls in a ton of property taxes, the state will simply give them less money and steer the money they would've gotten to another less-fortunate district.

you can see this in action if you compare a district like Franklin to UA. the state gives UA $2423 per pupil. conversely, they give Milton $6907 per pupil.

odds are decent that when Franklin last passed their levy (2014, i think) they budgeted for $XYZ, and then sometime in the past decade the state formula penalized them which has resulted in them operating at a deficit.

a quick review of their finances on the ODE website indicates they spend virtually the same amount of money (per pupil) as Milton (and less than the state average).

and before someone chimes in "but property values have skyrocketed!", there is a reason schools always have to return to the ballots and ask for more money and that reason is House Bill 920, which protects homeowners from increased taxes when home values increase.

tldr -- they are probably in this boat because forecasting a budget for a school is a pain due to how schools are funded in OH. unfortunately for them, their tax base probably isn't financially well off so that makes passing a levy that much more difficult. ODE has their district listed as 60% economically disadvantaged.

We are 95 days away from the August 22 Kickoff!! Some schools are finishing up this week while others are next week. Good Luck to all the boys and coaches this summer hopefully everyone has a good 7/7 and scrimmages!!!

Can we take a moment and talk about how Bellbrook , Edgewood and valley view will schedule anyone ?? Sheesh .

Bellbrook and valley view have made deep playoffs for this very reason. Edgewood come week 5 is gonna be tough as nails

Couldn't agree more!! Bellbrook and VV do not care they will play you in the parking lot or out behind the bleachers. Other teams in the SWBL wont even play crossover games because of how it will affect their record. Edgewood is going to be a contender in the next few years. I said it before to all the Edgewood haters out there, it's like novacane, just give it time and it will work.

Edgewood playing 2 D1 schools and Badin is a tough first 3 weeks.

Bellbrook and Valley View always play tough non-conference games it seems.

I understand some teams not wanting to play 3 extremely tough games in the out of conference but some of the league schools don't challenge themselves at all, and then when they play VV, BB or Edgewood they aren't prepared. I get not wanting to start 0-3 but you have to challenge yourself at least once in those first 3.

I know some schools that are happy to beat weaker teams in their OOC games and then take their chances during the league play. Some schools just flat out refuse to play crossover games. And then we sit around and allow Dayton Christian to come into the league that had 16 kids on their football team to start the year so they can get an easy win and turn around and say it is because they will "help compete" in other sports.

SWBL would’ve been better if they did some contracting instead of expanding.
