SVSM Irish 2024 and 2025

Only newsworthy to those petty individuals that have nothing else to do with their lives but worry about an irrelevant HS Coaching assistant's past (unless it was inappropriate conduct, and in that case couldn't pass the background check). In the greater scheme of things if Hoban and their community approve, then nobody else's business. STVM backers have enough to worry about, like winning more than one game this upcoming season, which is VERY iffy and doesn't look likely, but people are hopeful (lets hope Elyria Catholic hasn't gotten any better and Benedictine falls apart at end of season). 2-8
and i think STVM people like different things. I am on the girls basketball side of things and they are on a major rise so I think it just depends on how you look at it. football has definitely been down but in 5 years I assume that will change. time horizon.

petty? no i think its newsworthy. whether you think so or not is irrelevant. no need to get angry about it William. it was newsworthy when STVM wrestling coach was disgraced so I feel like the opposite should be true for another Akron school. Just my opinion. You're allowed to have yours :)
Again, that was inappropriate sexual behavior with a student as opposed to feeding a kid pepperoni pizza with the pepperoni picked off. That sounds like a tit for tat or a why me not them. That's petty, and you are right its, my opinion and you are allowed to have yours also.

However, once again I refer to my statement that STV have more pressing issues to worry about than a former coach and pepperoni pizzagate. The reason for my assumed anger (more like mild "are you serious" vibe) is why would someone from STV be worried about what Hoban is doing or who they are hiring? "Successful people never worry about what others are doing."

Wonder if Hoban (or for that matter any school) is worried about the former Akron Armor coach STV just hired? Doubt it.

BTW I love me some Carley! She should have been the new AD! Then STV wouldn't be going through this at all.

I don't equate inappropriate sexual behavior with religious persecution but i think both should be reported on. stvm isnt worried about that, I am lol. they are going about their business as usual. I am not STVM. Just a person who thinks all should be reported, no matter the school. STVM people couldn't care less. I am not them.

Carley did not want AD job. Took away from Ohio Basketball that she runs. Gets great athletes to start choosing STVM. Tide is turning on that boat.

Well you know about it, so why are you worried about it? Ohhh you want every body else to worry about it too. 🤣

Not certain about her not wanting the position. I still firmly believe she thought they would give her a chance with it once Willie stepped down. But water under the bridge, she's doing a great job, but a lot of kids left because she didn't get the job. Directly or indirectly.

no i honestly just wouldn't know if it wasn't for a random online chat like this. dont want to worry about it... i just want to know about it. and i think thats fair. most people are not on an online high school sports forum. i think that hiring deserves a write up somewhere. if irish hired ralph orsini it would be in ABJ no doubt. Just sayin.

I hear you. I think that's what's wrong with the world today, everybody is so worried about what other people are doing instead of fixing their own messes. But we have digressed...back to Irish football.

The 2025 schedule was just released on X. No different than what we already knew, other than Week 10 vs. Benedictine is showing as a neutral site game.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't this the year for the Irish to have the home game? If so, why the change in venue?

StV has been placed in D2 for the upcoming football season with two over the minimum of 378. StV has 268 boys and 112 for their CB for a total of 380.

To me, for this year this should make little difference to the Irish. Whether they are D2 orD3, a long playoff run (or a playoff appearance at all!) is likely not in their future this year. They have a great and challenging schedule. This year if they can get some wins and be competitive in their losses, then that will be a solid step in the right direction. I realize this is a low bar for a "successful season", but before you can get to the top of the ladder, you have to climb up the bottom rungs. Patience is tough, but it is a virtue...

I remember freshman year that was the same amount that we had. If not a little bit more that we had on our squad and I remember we went against Saint Edwards. And they as usual, had like 50 something kids on the freshman roster. We thought that just because they had the numbers they had a lot of capable quality players that they could just sub in and out. But I remember Coach Kelly told us that numbers don’t win the battle and we blew them out I believe 35-42 to 14 I know what you’re asking what does that mean? I think there has to be some type of mentality that all of these kids no matter freshman JV varsity that no matter who they’re facing, or who they have on the opponent side. That the physicality and the will to win should still be the end goal Each week.

Maybe this is the eternal optimist in me, but I really don't much care - so here goes.....

We open week 1 at Nordonia. The Knights finished 8-2 last year. Rut Roah Rooby Doo...

But not so fast my friend....

Nordonia finished the year (including playoffs) at 10-3 last year. But upon closer examination - the ONLY team out of those ten wins that had a winning record was Green at 7-5 for their final win of the season. All of the other 9 victories were against teams that finished .500 or worse.

If there ever was a chance to "steal one" on the road - open the damn door. It is opportunity knocking.

Spot on Smash Mouth. I don't know what I was thinking the other day. While it still is true they did only beat one team that finished with a winning record - they absolutely pulverized the opponents in the other games.

I will consider myself spanked.

This serves as a thread bump as well.

Last Thursday, the Irish welcomed both Parris Campbell and Doran Grant back home to retire their jersey 21 that each of them wore in their years on N. Maple Street. The only offensive position I dont remember either one playing was TE or OL. Same on defense - no DL or LB.

Both were uber talented. Parris won a Super Bowl with the Eagles last season, and now plays for the Cowboys. Grant was an All American at Ohio State, had a cup of coffee in the NFL, and is now, of course, the head coach of the Irish.

Parris was as impactful of an offensive player as the Irish have ever had. Every time he touched the ball you felt like a score was possible. The Irish also did him a real solid by letting him move outside during his senior year to prepare for OSU.

Still remember the fly sweep in the championship game against Bellevue, when fly sweeps were just becoming a mainstream thing. Irish had the ball around midfield, Parris went left to right. Even though he got the pitch 5 yards behind the line, you knew he had the angle. And with his jets - no Bellevue player was touching him.

Yeah, he was the perfect jet sweep player. Even at OSU.
