Suburban league 2022

Does anyone else agree that Tallmadge should be excellent this year?
Tallmadge will be able to pass the ball well. But can they balance their offense? In our game last year, we just ran off tackle on them and they could do nothing to stop it so there are questions about their defense.

With Cuyahoga Falls moving down to the small school division, will they ever return to having a program than can again be competitive??

D line will be the question, linebacking crew very strong, fast, athletic and all have nose for the ball so will help plug gaps pretty well. D backs are solid so D should be able to stop more often and give the high flying O more time to open things up. Running game came around after they went with a more downhill back and QB has improved on tucking it and taking off.
Added Green to the schedule so now no room to slip on other 6 games. Then again the 16 team playoff will definitely be helpful for them.
with aurora, highland , Barberton and Green this team will be battle tested and not an easy 1st round game for wherever they may be slotted.

I agree that the 16 team playoff allows for tougher games to be scheduled that will result in more battle tested teams.

Will be a great year in the American for sure.

In case you didn't know Xavier Preston from Stow decommitted from Austin Peay for football to focus on track in college.
He's having an outstanding year in track winning Regional Championships in the 100, 200, 4x200, and 4x400. He's a big part of Stow's Regional Runner-up squad, playing a hand in 40 of their 41 points. Up next is the State Championship in Columbus starting on Thursday.
Xavier already has racked up several track scholarship offers in the last 3 weeks.

Good luck to all the Suburban League athletes competing next week.

Any news on any schools?

Barberton is @ Nordonia for a four team scrimmage on Saturday, August 6th. Not positive who the other two teams are but I think North Olmsted and Walsh?

Magics then host Dalton in the season preview game on Thursday the 11th

Looks like we lose Barberton and Wadsworth from D2/R6, but keep Brecksville, Highland and North Royalton.

Not a Tallmadge fan but I’m rooting for him to get an offer today ..!!!

Congratulations to the Stow 4x400 relay team of Dustin Horner, Brian Turner, BryceTurner and Xavier Preston in winning New Balance Outdoor Nationals in a time of 3:15.78. Preston anchored in 46.53. The same quartet finished in 2nd place 2 days earlier in the 4x200 relay.

Looking back at the results, Stow's sprint medley also won a National Championship. The winning team of Brian Turner, Vance Sheppert, Xavier Preston, and Dustin Horner ran a 1:32.38.

Barberton's Roosevelt Andrews was named The Beacon Journal Defensive Player of the Year for the 2021-22 school year

A lot of Suburban League athletes won awards. In addition to Roosevelt Andrews, these athletes were award winners:
Xavier Preston (Stow)-Athlete of the Year
Jaxon Joy (Wadsworth)-Wrestler of the Year
Trevor Rorabaugh (Revere)-Soccer Player of the Year
Alec Dickens (Hudson)-Hockey Player of the Year
Jack Jenkins (Hudson)-Lacrosse Player of the Year
Mya Sopata (Nordonia)-Volleyball Player of the Year
Bryce Lewin (Nordonia)-Bowler of the Year
Brooke Buchanan (Hudson)-Field Hockey Player of the Year
Isabella Goyette (Highland)-Golfer of the Year
Ava Giustino (Hudson)-Gymnast of the Year
Morgan Debos (Revere)-Female Tennis Player of the Year

Is there discussion about that?
Last I heard, there will be no discussion about it as some of the powers at Falls still believe they can compete with the big boys. The move makes perfect sense, but will need to convince those folks it is what is best for the kids.

I think you have to give Falls a couple years in the American before considering another move. Football may continue to struggle but it's all the other sports that could determine if this is a good fit.

My early predictions:

American:
1. Barberton
2. Highland
3. Tallmadge
4. Aurora
5. Revere
6. Kent Roosevelt
7. Copley
8. Cuyahoga Falls
*The top four could finish in any order

National:
1. Hudson
2. Stow
3. Nordonia
4. Brecksville
5. North Royalton
6. Wadsworth
7. Twinsburg
