Struthers at Hubbard week 5

Just having a little fun "Spread All Day"...Yeah...but it's to far for you "Strutherins" to travel. And my name isn't...BOB! I wouldn't want to offend anybody if I owned a business. But nice try. Whatever happened to all the great players from the Hardhats from the past? All the plastic trophies on top of the fireplaces. I guess they got tired of all the "Bull"... Go Hardhats! Beat Sebring!! I think the "Wildhats" may squeeze one more victory this year. But I really don't know whom against... But keep trying. Watched film on you guys against Range(tough to watch). Not a good football team. Sorry for being brutally honest. Most people in Struthers are awesome. Just being truthful. Last post for this season. Have fun with it. Good Luck this year(you will need it).
What in gods name are you talking about lmao I never called you Bob and I never said you owned a business?

I don’t pay attention to little league football I think it’s stupid and I think most of the people that associate themselves with that league are stupid. A bunch of parents that think their kids are way better than they are and when they figure out they’re not going to start varsity as a freshman they move to Springfield or somewhere else to get their kid on the field whatever… who cares. They don’t coach the fundamentals and with the league football generally and just try to win games so that’s why I despise Little League football. But I will tell you what happens since a lot of people in Struthers don’t seem to realize this. You can be really good when you are a small kid because you are bigger than your peers and faster than your peers but when everyone grows up in the weight room becomes crucial that’s when you find out who the real football players are going to be. Not the kid who was good at the little hardhats or whatever the hell they call them these days. For example the little hard has had a running back several years ago I would say almost a decade who was a complete stud at their level but didn’t even end up playing varsity football because he didn’t grow from the time he was in the hardhats

I think you forgot your other login a couple years ago when the Mooney guys finally got tired of you bashing fecko. So lame.

You are crazy. It's all excuses from Struthers. They beat a bad St. Thomas team. Lost to an average Geneva team. Lost to an average Streetsboro team. Lost to a really good South Range team. Struthers is below average this year. They had 6 turnovers on a loss because they are not good. They caused 4 turnovers on a loss because they are not good.
I agree with this. They are not a good football team. How many good football teams are in the ne8 this season? 2. That’s it. So every game from here on out is very winnable.

The top 2 teams are Girard and South Range. The rest will battle it out every week if they are not playing Girard or South Range. I still think that this a good league. Still way too early to tell what will happen.

But as far as being partial to Struthers, as a Campbell fan I despise them but I respect them. I have alot of friends over there whose kids play. I think that they play hard on defense and like how they are aggressive. I believe that Hubbard is a better team and I think that they should win. But, if they play like last week, they will have the same result and they did in week 4.

Idk if they stink per say. I do find it crazy that Struthers couldn't win off of 6 Range turnovers. Are we talking about a 40 point Range win if they don't turn the ball over 6 times?
Absolutely its a 40+ point win. Range is a really good football team. Not many teams can have 6 turnovers and be in control the whole game. They are losing close games vs average teams.

The whole area is down aside from a few teams. Struthers, Hubbard, Poland, Lakeview, and Niles are not good teams this year. Girard and Range show potential but don't give me deep playoff run vibes.
South range does not give you deep playoff vibes? Whatever you're smoking, sell it and buy your dream vacation home.

The Struthers guys probably know this but......

In week 3 of the 1974 season I witnessed what is one of the most bizarre finishes to a football game I have ever witnessed, possibly that anyone has ever witnessed outside of the California-Stanford game a few years later. It has happened in games since then but this was the first I ever saw it happen.

I attended the Struthers-Hubbard game at Struthers. Neither team did much offensively all night but in the 1st quarter Struthers recovered a Hubbard fumble around the Eagles’ 25-yard line and punched it in for a TD. The Cats missed the PAT but they added a safety for an 8-0 lead at the end of one quarter.

It stayed that way until the 4th quarter when Hubbard blocked a Struthers punt and gained possession around midfield. The Eagles drove for the TD but failed on the 2-point conversion leaving them with an 8-6 deficit. With about 45 seconds left in the game, still leading 8-6, Struthers tried to punt from its own 25-30 yard line. Hubbard blocked this one also and recovered it on the Cats’ 6-yard line with 35 seconds left in the game. Hubbard ran off 4 plays without gaining anything and Struthers took over on their own 6-yard line with 1 second on the clock, 1 second.

For some reason the Struthers QB, thinking the game was over when time expired I guess, threw the ball on the ground, he didn’t down it, he just threw it on the ground. A bunch of us were standing on the fence near that end zone and we were all screaming “that’s a live ball!” A Hubbard player named Antonucci realized it was a live ball and jumped on it in the end zone for the game-winning TD. In the ensuing madness the PAT was not even attempted and Hubbard won 12-8. UNBELIEVABLE! I purposely omitted the name of the Struthers QB because the poor guy is STILL taking abuse about it. I know this is true because I witnessed the following:

It was at least 25-30 years later and I was sitting in a well known Struthers establishment after a game. I was talking to the owner, I'll call him Moose. The place is packed and who walks in, the 1974 game QB. Moose yells "1974 HUBBARD", and I swear to you like when Norm walked into Cheers, the entire bar, in unison yells "WE WIN.....NO!!! WE LOSE!!!!" :) That poor guy will never hear the end of it. I may be wrong on this but I think he is in the Struthers Hall of Fame.

That’s why high school sports are so awesome. Nice post much appreciated to hear history that most have forgotten.

Hubbard Eagles 7th. and 8th. grade beat the Struthers wildcats by the score of 18-16 today. Overall record for the Eagles is 2-1 for the season. Tell you what the Wildcats had some big boys on the defensive line... Oh and just to give the Hubbard faithful a heads up, we have a really good quarterback coming up from the 8th. level the boy did a really good job under pressure throwing the ball and hit some nice targets while under pressure I was really impressed. And a really good defensive end/receiver also.

Good game to watch, the Struthers starting Tb didn’t play in the first half due to missing practice I believe, he’s a tough one. Hubbards #4 was tough as well
