Believe it depends on the teaching union contract, some schools have it defined others don’t. But this true many good candidates with with many teaching years turn jobs down because schools only can offer a lower number in years of tenureSchools can only offer A certain number of years experience (ex. 10) when looking at candidates outside of the district. It is accurate to say that in their final group of candidates there were a mix of coaches/teachers with many years of experience and those with less than 10. The experienced finalists have a cut in pay to deal with. Decisions certainly being made. Would not be surprised to see a younger coach get this but who knows.
It is typically private, but this isn’t uncommon for two reasons:Isn’t executive session typically private. I wouldn’t think the board needs to discuss it and it would be a simple approval like the other personnel decisions.
