Steuebenville big Red Vs New philly

 
Steubenville will be out for revenge after losing at home 2 years ago and getting shut out on the road last year. I think they'll win.

This game marks the beginning of a challenging 3-4 game stretch for New Philadelphia: after this road trip, they host Buchtel and Canfield before visiting Canton CC who may or may not be all that after beating backyard rival Perry in week 1. They then get a breather against Columbus Northland before Chardon pays them a visit.

I thought the revenge angle would propel big red last season but instead they took the biggest beating I can recall red taking in many years. Pretty sure Phila owns the all time series and I would guess few other schools can claim that.
That said Red is looking special this year and they win 31-0
 
Arguably the 8 of the top 10 teams in Region 9 play each this week.

New Philly @ Steubenville
Dover @ Canfield
Chardon @ Buchtel
Aurora @ ASVSM

New Philly is the underdog and will need to play a near perfect game and some help to pull off the upset in Death Valley. I think Philly keeps it close for a half or so and then Steubenville pulls away to win by 20.

Boy, Coach Dennison really picked a tough slate for his replacement. I don’t see any Edison’s, Collinwood’s, or Indian Creek’s on there.

The nice thing about the wider group being in the tournament is we should be seeing more aggressive regular season scheduling going forward.
 
Coach Dennison did New Phila no favors before he left. As AD he got them into a conference where the closest school is over an hour away by bus. He baled on them when the current talent level was going to be down, saying he needed a break, Then a month later was applying for other jobs. He has no integrity in my opinion.
 
Phila stabbed Dover in the back on the OAC. Dover was talking to them about 5 years ago but only had 1 opening,Dover declined to pursue it unless they had room for Phila so I agree Dennison has no integrity.

funny how Np didn’t play 5 tough teams in the regular season under Dennison in 15 years He leaves and loads the next guy up with killer teams. Imagine if chardon called Dennison to play in the regular season lol. Hello hello bad connection

Don't they play schools over an hour anyway? Plus, New Philadelphia has a history with some from old Cardinal Conference, notably Ashland and Madison.

Did the school board not vote to officially approve joining the OCC?
 
Philly had a few nice classes the last couple years and enjoyed some success against Big Red. Now it’s our turn to get back on track. Big Red wins big…….. at least 3 scores.
 
Big Red up 35-0 midway through the third quarter.

I don't think this is all that surprising. This Big Red team is good and the last couple years, New Philly has gotten the better of us. This felt like it could be a tidal wave. Respect to NP for signing up for multiple years though. Hope to see the games continue.

Do you see now why Dennison took a new job. He didn't need a break, he knew what was coming up in talent. I feel sorry for Coach Johnson he's a good man.

He could not get out of Np quick enough. 7-8-9th grades have long roads ahead. It’s not looking good the next 3-5 years for Np football
