Division 1 tournament could be interesting.

Field is pretty deep IMO.

Westerville South is the best #2 team out of the east in a while (I'm not counting 2015 when Darby was East #2 as they were mis-seeded IMO).

St. Ignatius (if they beat WS, would be a tough out for St. Xavier).

Beavercreek has proven as recently as 2015 that they are capable of getting hot and making a run.

Darby and Elder (arguably the top 2 teams in state the majority of the season are on collision course in semi's)

I also think Centerville is somewhat of a wild-card. They are playing with house-money and no pressure. They've lost some tough matches, but are used to playing with the other big dogs.

Should be interesting...

Several of these Quarterfinal/Semifinal Matchups are rematches from earlier this season:

Archbishop Alter beat Archbishop McNicholas twice:
25-17, 25-15, 25-11
25-22, 28-30, 28-30, 25-14, 15-8

Archbishop Hoban vs. Dublin Scioto:
-Have not played

Elder beat Beavercreek in late March:
26-28, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22

St Xavier beat Centerville in late March:
21-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23

Hilliard Darby vs. St Edward:
-Have not played

St Ignatius and Westerville South have split:
WS won at the Elite - 19-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23
Iggy won a day after the Spikes for Tykes - 23-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-23

Potential rematches in the Semifinals and Championships:
Hilliard Darby beat Elder
St Xavier beat St Ignatius
St Xavier beat Westerville South
St Ignatius beat Centerville

Archbishop Hoban beat Archbishop Alter 25-21, 27-25
Beavercreek beat Centerville 3x's
Elder beat Centerville twice
Elder beat St Xavier 3x's
Elder beat Westerville South
Hilliard Darby beat Elder
Hilliard Darby beat Westerville South twice
St Ignatius beat Beavercreek
St Ignatius beat St Edward twice
St Xavier beat Beavercreek
St Xavier beat Hilliard Darby

How was Darby mis-seeded in 2015? Davidson beat them a couple times that season.

Pretty sure they split that season. I guess I'd have to recheck to be sure. Davidson won 2nd matchup in 5 if I'm not mistaken which is what probably gave them the nod as the #1 seed . Just said it was my opinion. Ok if you disagree. I disagreed with seeding at that time before the tournament even began. No big deal though. In a tournament setting, you play against who you're dealt.

Just a slight adjustment, Darby beat Westerville South three times this season.

At Darby in 3-0.
At Centerville Elite 3-1.
At OCC Challenge in 2-0.

It was a 1-1 split. Each team won 3-2 at home and they shared the OCC title. Davidson had a better record down the stretch and won the second matchup between the two.

Amending my pick in the Elder-Beavercreek match to Elder in 4. Completely forgot Elder was missing their best OH for that early match.

Not sure why there's not more love for Elder (#1 ranked team majority of year) or St X (whom beat Darby 3-1 in their only match up of the season).

Actually St X is probably overdue for a title after not winning it as the favorite in 2015. They probably have the "easiest" road to the finals.

Darby & Elder would have to go through each other prior to facing off against St X.

Last year Darby & Moeller were pretty clear favorites and they killed each other in a 5 set match won by Moeller. Moeller had nothing left in tank and went down easily against Elder.

Logic says St X is favorite this year bc of their path. (Of course I do realize they had to go through Moeller in regionals, but that is over and done with now).

X has the long layoff. Playing in the 1st Semifinal always puts a team at a disadvantage because there's more down time. Obviously playing a marathon match is going to make things difficult as well. St X is definitely on the easier side, but that side is more difficult than Elder's last year. The best bet for X is to have Ignatius and WS beat each other up the day before. A sweep by either team over the other will bring them a lot of confidence headed to the Semifinal. I also expect Centerville to hang around with X in the Quarterfinal, maybe not take a set but keep them all tight.

Might as well put Darby's name on the trophy. I think everyone picked them so far, myself included.

LoL... Which means they are now cursed and won't win it, losing to Elder in the semis. Wasn't X the solid favorite in '15, when two longshots played for the title?

Elder takes first set over Beavercreek 25-18. Albers with a big first set (4 aces, 3-4 kills, plus a solo block to end the set).

Elder takes set 3, 25-14. Elder took a 10-4 lead. Beavercreek came back to cut it 14-13. Elder then reels off 12 of the next 13 points.
