Congratulations to the Eagles wrestling and hockey teams. The wrestling team captured it's 21st state title and broke the team scoring mark held by Walsh Jesuit. Coach Urbas registered his 10th title as coach and the team is ranked # 2 in the country. The Hockey team repeated as state champions and coach Widden won his 10th title and notched his 500th win this season.
 
 
How about this...tell me another coach that has won ten state championships in their sport?? St. Eds now has three coaches in this elite fraternity, Coach Howard Ferguson (wrestling 11 titles), Coach Greg Urbas (wrestling 10 titles) and Coach Bob Whidden (Ice hockey 10 titles). Now that is amazing!!

Ted Branin - 13 Swimming @ Canton McKinley
Jim Brower - 12 Swimming @ St. Xavier (active)
Howard Ferguson - 11 Wrestling @ St. Edward
Greg Urbas - 10 Wrestling @ St. Edward (active)
Bob Whidden - 10 Hockey @ St. Edward
Mike Milkovich - 10 Wrestling @ Maple Hts
Chuck Kyle - 10 (9 Football, 1 Track) @ St. Ignatius (active)

There may be more coaches with 10 team titles across multiple sports. Way back when it was not unual for guys to coach 2 or more sports.
 
Pretty impressive though...St. Eds has three coaches that have coached ten teams to state championships.
 
What? There have been years when Eds has NOT won the wrestling title? Go ON! Heh. That's a great tradition you guys have up there. Only in recent years has Moe gotten better at wrestling, and they still can't compete with Eds.
 
Mo is doing a fine job with their wrestling program. In fact if your are into sports you will notice that Mo does a great job with all their programs. In fact I would say the Mo has the best overall sports program in Ohio right now.
 
Xavier would have to be high on the list too, with the most boys OHSAA titles all-time (36). Also, Ignatius, of course, since they have won a title in a record 9 of 10 boys sports over the last 20 years. (and they were runner-ups in the 10th sport!)
