St. Edward 2022-23

Impact to wrestling personnel from the state title football run is as follows:
-Eaton, returning SP, is the projected starter at 150
-Slaper, two-time returning SP, is the projected starter at 190
-Waugh was round of 12 in Fargo Cadets, and is the backup at 190
-Gregory, a Jr High State champ in 2021, is the backup to Delsanter at 215 but would start for most every other team in the state
-Kilbane and Regovich are the top two options at 285, Kilbane a returning SP and P5 football commit

For all that, they still have a capable wrestler at 150 in O'Brien, though it's a downgrade; but suffer significantly at 190 and 285 for purposes of Ironman (and Carnahan) due to those absences.

I am not an insider from a St. Edward perspective, but I would be shocked to see them back before Powerade, and it is certainly possible they are held out until after Powerade. Eagles start with a quad that includes a dual meet against Massillon Perry (nationally ranked team they should beat even short-handed), Ironman, and then the Carnahan Tournament at Crown Point that features multiple nationally ranked teams before Powerade.

Quad at St. Ed's 12/3 will start at 11am.

Bucksman is correct. I too doubt you will see the wrestlers before Powerade.

Nice way to start the season off by Sanderfer. What is the school record for most state placers? Have they ever got all 14?

Congratulations to Eagles for nice showing at Ironman. J. Miller 2nd, Timar 4th and Delsanter 6th. Team finished 5th without 3 starters in line-up.
Go Eagles!
I was very impressed with Eds. They will be in the title hunt at Ironman for the next couple of years.

Congratulations ....But a long way from even third, there was also a lot of parity between 5th and 13th only separated by 30 points. I think they underperformed, there was a lot of hype last year about this "young" team, 3 placers 1 finals? Sure a couple other guys could have placed perhaps if in the line up, but doubtful they would have done better than Third/fourth. This is a decent team , but not one of Ed's elite teams.
