I'm not a gambler, other than a few bucks for an NCAA basketball bracket. I said it before, I'll continue to say it. It's a terrible idea and yet another way to:
A. go after people who can't handle money. We'll the gap between the haves and have nots grow
B. we will see increased situations of dishonesty in sports. It's not that it could happen, it WILL happen where college athletes get caught fixing games.
C. We are growing a younger generation who do not follow or root for teams. The follow players and play fantasy sports and now will gamble in sports. It will affect marriages, families and have a negative effect on both.
Look at Bernie Kosar, He got fired from his radio job for making a statement that he was betting $19,000 on the Browns to beat the Steelers. He's an employee of the Browns. Terrible decision.
For me, I've always loved watching and following sports without any financial stake involved. Why isn't that enough?
