Southwest Preseason

I'm not sure if all games are updated on the GGCL website but it appears the league is a combined 1-6 in the opening week of the season. It's difficult to make a lot of sense of that giving the overwhelming success of most sports programs in the GGCL.
The Seton vs Harvest Prep game isn't on there....2-6... The private school sector, in general, definitely has a lot of work to do on the basketball side of things.

All the girls are playing volleyball and soccer year round and have no time to play basketball.

If coaches and programs sit and hope that girls are going to come to them to play basketball, then there will be a continuing decline. You have to market the sport, school, and program. Especially the private schools that are losing the battle. Each sport is its own business trying to outsell the other.

I saw on the Princeton site they are doing 4 games in Arizona. I know it’s a holiday tournament does anyone know anything about it . Tournament is in Dec
Probably Nike Tournament of Champions
128 teams

Ty I don’t know why I didn’t think of this .

This is really one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" situations for me. There are always coaches, players, parents, fans, etc. that say that things are "different". From what we saw last year, there's a gap between Seton and the consistently really good teams in the area (in this case, MND). Is one summer of growth and "culture change" enough to close that gap? My opinion is no. And as someone stated above, when upperclassman start losing time to underclassman, how do players (and more importantly parents) react?

Whether it happens this year or in the coming years, I actually hope that gap closes between Seton and MND. But that's going to be hard. With Drew at MND, it's going to turn into a glorified Legends program. I suppose all of the privates sort of play by their own rules, but I hope that it's not just all MND around here.
Well...

Huge early season game tonight 12/4, Mason @ Princeton
Anyone have any insights? From few game scores, both squads appear very strong once again this season.
This game especially @ Princeton has produced some classics and usually leads to a step up in GMC title race and very high seed in State Tourney. New Mason HC has so far made a seamless transition to his "one seat over" move, but can Vikings Coach Davis throw a wrench in that change?
Gerton & Parrish usually must see entertainment!!
Will the Freshmen future stars Thomas & Stanfield shine?

MND just almost beat SETON by 40. Please stop with the nonsense.
I saw on Twitter this morning that MND's 40 point blowout was their 50th consecutive win against GGCL opponents. As I was reading through this thread and looking at posts, it seems that the Seton faithful or westside dads have gotten very quiet. A lot of chirping in the offseason and pre-season and then they got running clocked. It appears the MND is still MND and Seton is still Seton.

The words of a respected coach at the game…”2-3 zone vs shooters is never going to go well”
That was the respected coaches opinion of why Seton lost by 37 points? Seriously?
MND was 12-34 from 3 point range according to the stats. It's not like they had some lights out shooting performance.

I'm just going to call it how I see it. You have some excuse for everything that goes wrong within the program. Lose to Kings, Kings shot out of their minds and we didn't use our size advantage. Lose to MND. Some respected coach said this. Could it just be the other teams are better and it's not all coaching? Or, a combination of both and Seton just needs to keep working on continual improvement without all the unrealistic expectations of suddenly overcoming 7 years of MND dominance. Small steps.

Way to take that out of context.. didn't say that was why they lost. Nice try.

Seton lost because MND is the better team. Seton played too soft and undisciplined. The 2-3 Zone just put salt on the wound.

I praised the staff for their preparation going into the season as it's been a breath of fresh air. With that said, this team has looked to have gotten worse based off MND and Seton basically having the same team and losing by twice as much. Don't let one goof that said MND and Seton will split speak for everyone that supports the team. We know what we have and the time it will take to get there. Unfortunately, I was hoping it would be a better game based off last years results and the work the players and coaches have put in. I also said they could lay and egg. They laid a big one.

By the way, that respected coaches opinion was an MND parent.

It was the only thing you said after the game. You wanted people to talk about Seton and now you got it. Unfortunately, it isn't going the way you thought it would. MND is better. By a lot. Talent, skill, system, coaching, etc. Probably mostly talent.
Stop the talk. The target people put on this groups back before the season isn't helping. You don't think someone didn't read this stuff from MND and it provided some extra motivation to bury Seton last night?

Play the underdog role and embrace it. Respect is earned and not talked about.

Mason up 20 after 3

Based off results, maybe the gap between Princeton and MND isn’t as big as previously thought.
Princeton was without their star freshman Erin Thomas (concussion) and Mari Gerton played less than one half (hurt on a drive in the second quarter). Kali Fortson and Kiki Harris were in foul trouble, and Mason just ran on box and one on the only shooter on the floor...

Mason won by 11. Clearly tells a different story than if Princeton was at full strength.

Good call. Didn’t know that.

Did the Gerton injury look serious?
She was on the floor for a good 7 minutes. I couldn’t tell if it was knee or ankle. I’m thinking it was more concussion related, but she was carried off court and never returned to bench .

after further review I still not a believer in Davis. She does has a state championship but that team was loaded. Mason scored from all over last night . Layups, points off turnovers, nice outside shooting, Princeton made a run in late 3rd quarter/ early 4th but not even close . Davis needs to quit bitching about calls and coach
