I should also add that Fulton hurt them last year, too. It was a mix of straight power run and scrambles, but he caused them problems. Getting that extra blocker and using the QB as about the only way teams ran at all against SR last year and mostly this year. Unless you were Kirtland.

Anyway, looking forward to it. #5 D4 vs #5 D5. That's a big game!

I want to hear these shock details. Since I know you already seen South Range in person probably against Struthers, you might have some insight lol
They are a very fundamentally sound team but that being said Girard most likely has the advantage in their athletes. South range is not unbeatable by any means. Girard can win

Quarterback runs by Poland gave them fits last year too iam416. Seems to be the MO for the Raiders defense. That being said, coach Rach does an excellent job of scheming for the offense they face.

Unfortunately, I have to work and won't get to see it in person, but thankful that it will be on TV. Looking forward to seeing this game. Hopefully it will be a competitive, injury free contest. (y)

Girard schemes as well as anyone offensively, SR will shut down 1 or 2 options, it’s gonna be up to the Girsrd staff to hit them with something they’re not ready for

I think CCC and US are better than anyone Girard has played, but I could be wrong on Streetsboro.

I also think Poland is better than Lakeview even though one has a losing record and one has a winning record.

In any event, I think it's fair to say SR hasn't exactly been tested, yet, either.

I’m pulling for SR to get a long run in the playoffs, this is probably their best shot in the near future. Those seniors have a ton of wins under their belt but I wanna see them advance past R17 and make some noise

It's certainly their best chance to win the region in awhile. Garaway is very good, though.

I thought the 2005 team was the best, but Patrick Henry was stupid good that year. In 2017, Eastwood was just a little more physical and was probably the best team in the state, but gave up an implausible long game-tying drive at the death in the final.

And the last couple years, Kirtland has been standing there.

This is probably Yeagley's last chance at a long run. I don't know how many years he has left, but I expect the next couple at SR to be not as good. So, I'd really like to see him find his way to a state final this year. Pretty big ask, but we'll see. I think it's his last really good/great team.

First things first -- trying to contain Girard in what pretty much amounts to an NE8 title game.

Would be surprised if Girard holds the SR offense under 30. Looks like Girard has some athletes and could score especially with some receivers. I’m sure Girard hasn’t seen anyone close to South Range’s front 7 physically. I think they could pass rush 3 and get pressure. The DL is exceptional. If they bring 6 every play, the QB will have to be very creative to get the ball off. Like most games, will come down to turnovers. Look for SR to score on special teams this week. Been close all year, but haven’t broke a punt or kick return yet. Will take a disciplined SR secondary for a big win. I see 35-20.

I agree on 2005.

A State Title (or even Championship Game appearance) would be a great cap to his, and his longtime staff members career. They don't NEED it however. What they have accomplished at a small public school over the last three decades is pretty noteworthy. Consistent winner with only a couple losing seasons in the schools history. SR fans have been spoiled pretty much since the schools creation.

High school sports, more than anything, show the value of coaching. SR has been blessed with some good ones and Yeagley, obviously, is all four faces on their Mt. Rushmore.

And as I've noted in the past, if I went back in time to even 2010 and told anyone that SR would not only join the NE8, but win back-to-back titles and be on a 19-game conference win streak -- it just wouldn't be believable. To go from a consistently good ICL program to a consistently really good/dominant ITCL program to a consistently good NE8 program -- that's not bad (and hopefully they'll be consistently good in NE8 -- 3.5 seasons probably isn't quite enough to make that claim).

Girard has beaten three teams with winning records and South Range has beaten one.
I Don’t really know if Lakeview counts as a winning team? 3-2

Jefferson does in fact have a winning record. 4-1

Ellet does not have a winning record. 2-3

Liberty hasn’t won a game. 0-4

Streetsboro is 3-2

Yes, you’re right they have played against 3 teams with winning records but Im not impressed. I still think Range by 3 scores.

I think range wins as well, as for a score I’m not sure the ball and bounce a bunch of different ways on a Friday night. As for lakeview they play who is on their schedule, so may it have been a weak schedule 3-2 is still a winning record for those kids who went 0-10 last season, they’re significantly better and seem to be going forward

I think Lakeview wins one more game this year . Hubbard ,Poland , or Jefferson will be the victim . Injuries , no injuries one of them 3. As for the post Girard 35, Range 28

Their 7th and 8th both lost to Struthers today, but it seemed like they have way more talent and size then the last couple years

ya the 8th grade does for sure .7 th grade has 30 players . It seems like their trying to get them all playing time instead of actually playing to win . Lot of confusion . Hopefully it will sort it self out as the years go on

That Patrick Henry game was on a frozen field covered in ice pellets. Not the best conditions, but both teams had to deal with it.

That game may have turned out differently if David Rach didn't suffer a separated shoulder. With him out in the second half, the Patriots were able to utilize their tall, lanky star receiver with no one that could effectively guard him. Novak also was nursing a partially separated shoulder. He was such a vicious hitter at the safety position, but he could hardly make a tackle in that game.

Heh. I was there. I thought PH was the better team. Not by 20. Maybe 7. But enough. It was a really good game. Those were the two best teams in the state.

Rude awakening for Girard, don’t think they was expecting this type of beat down around there. 35-6 not even halftime.

Surprised so many people think SR is going to struggle every week. They aren't getting challenged legitimately until the playoffs. It's unfortunate that Kirtland is in another division now
