Solon Comet Lacrosse.

Well, thank you Masy. As you may know or guess, I don't know the rules yet, I will attend Solon's match up with Brecksville tonight at Stewart Field at 7:00 P.M. GO COMETS!!!!!

Solon-19

Brecksville-2  Mostly 9th and 10th graders in second half. I'm learning. A great sport, and an addictive one to play I'm sure.

Yep Mas, Brecksville is somewhat new to the sport I've been told. But their uni's were awesome. :) Meta is doing fine, he isn't interested in lacrosse, he loves baseball, as I do, I'm sure he would be impressed with Comet lacrosse team and possible future football players. Solon loses 14 seniors off this squad; it will be interesting how young underclass takes over team next year. Hurri

Solon is beating up on everyone they face. Will this be the case when they play University School too? They must be the real deal this year.

A Good Test

Solon is beating up on everyone they face. Will this be the case when they play University School too? They must be the real deal this year.

The answer is hard to tell. Going by the MaxPreps ranking for Ohio, Solon is #22 possibly because their wins are lower ranked teams. Not much lower (Kent Roosevelt #33, Walsh #28, Hoban #42) and maybe these are lower now because they lost to the Comets. The N. Canton Hoover team that beat them in the season opener is not ranked as far as I can find.

So University School at #12 will be a good test. A few wins against this kind of competition will spark interest in Lacrosse at Solon, and about them in NE Ohio. My prediction, University will have a more finesse play and Solon a tougher style.

Ahh, about your prediction, how do you arrive at that conclusion, or guess? Comets will rise to the level of teams they play. Just a prediction.

Predicting

Predicting the style of play of a team is a bit like predicticting a hurricane. You have current stats that are known and a history of what has happened; but never know if a turn might be taken.

University School- some second generation lax players, kids played lax club. Coach, parents & school interest high for the sport(Just raised $6,000 for Fisher House Foundation at a benefit).

Solon- relatively new sport for a team with many good footballers. Program is just growing in interest.

My prediction of the style of play has nothing to do with who steps up. We know the Comets are playing well and I do not predict a loss. University barely beat Medina and early on beat Canton Hoover like Solon did. US just lost to #8 ranked Wooster. They are not beyond losing.

A Solon win would certainly add credibiilty to their program regardless of playing style. No guessing about that!

US is a class program with historically well conditioned, good, solid athletes. A win for Solon would be a signature win for their squad as Solon fans will admit if they get one. This will be a true test for the Comets. As pointed out above, if one team plays mistake free and is focused, the game will go their way. Very hard to predict too. Should be a great game given how this is setting up and strength of both teams this year.

Agreed Badger. A GREAT article in Solon Times today on Solon lacrosse team. I just may type the whole write up on Solon Forum, if the advil kicks in for my darn back. Pics cool also.

Solon wins 12-5 Tuesday evening over Gilmour. Solon was down 4-1, then scored ten straight. Comets now 8-1. Makeup rainout next at Shaker Hts. Saturday. Then Benedictine comes to Solon next Tuesday. Then;

UNIVERSITY SCHOOL @ SOLON. May 17, @ SOLON 2:00 P.M.

GO COMETS!!!!!

Solon wins 15-1 over Benedictine. Scoring is in Solon School thread. Much of the time underclassmen played to gain experience. Next up; the mighty Preppers of University School. Saturday at Solon at 2 p.m.

U.S. will be favored, Solon has team to pull upset. GO COMETS!!!!!

True that Mason Comet; don't like the prediction of weather report for Solon Saturday though. Might be mighty wet. Solon has "turf" field, but we all would prefer dry 2-3 hours. It's tough enough to make a 24 hour prediction up here with Lake Erie, so let's just see.

Under a mostly grey sky, dry and cool, and somewhat breezy, the Preppers of University School came into Solon's Stewart field to play the much anticipated matchup between these two highly successful teams this season.

Scoring is in Solon Comet thread, but Ben Bold, Brian Stovsky, and Andrew Vekstein did the scoring for U.S. Rodman,Hartnett, DiCarro,Skonezney, and Samuels had the Comet goals.

Score after 1st, 3-2 Solon. At half, 5-5. After 3rd, 8-7 University. Final score 9-8 University School. Congrats to the Preppers.

After 1st quarter game was a bit chippy and abundant whistles, flags, and penaltys stopped play. Game was close up to end.

US and Solon are the top teams in the North. Sounds like they could meet again in the playoffs, and both seem to be the real deal.

I really should have mentioned the University School player who got hurt. As he was carried off the field by two teammates, his ankle or foot was just hanging loose. Later I noticed that they had wrapped it over a brace of some sort. The young man looked in a great deal of pain, but never left the sideline. I think I know his name, but not sure.

I have been remiss by not posting Solon results on here; really wasn't sure if too many were interested in a div.2 team in their first year out of club status.

Solon Comets now 12-3 after last night's win over Hawken. Will now play Walsh Jesuit Saturday. Hurri-Lax  ( all results posted on Solon School Forum)

In a "barnburner" at Solon, Comets win 9-8 in overtime over Walsh Jesuit. One for the ages in Solon's short history. Tyler Rodman gets the unassisted goal to seal the outcome. Solon plays the winner of University School-Toledo St. John Wednesday.

Awesome Solon. That US vs. Solon rematch will be awesome. Hopefully the weather will be better this time. Congrats on great sucess in the teams first year out of Club.

University School scored twice in 4rth quarter to break tie; the Preppers win 8-6. A great evening, beautiful weather, and a monster crowd saw Solon play so much better in the second half, but congratulations to University School. And good luck in state championship in Dublin Saturday. Game write up in Solon Forum.

Ditto Hurri. Sounds like a great game and the congrats to both teams. Solon has quickly made an impact at D2 and the kids and coaches should be proud of their accomplishments.
