Scores 11/28/11

Question is: Will Loesing & Napolitano be able to carry them until the 3 other starters (all 1st year varsity sophomores) find their games? And will the defense hold up? 61 pts. to Loveland is not a good indication that it will. Big test tonight against the Kelsey Mitchell Vikings...I mean Princeton Vikings.

Mercy lost by 11 to Princeton. I think St. Ursula is better than Mercy. But it depends on the game plan. If you get into a track meet with Princeton, you are toast. If you make them play half court basketball, you can beat them.....

That's true-they will need to improve defensively, but I think it was SUA's first game. They should be able to improve that. I've heard they have a deep bench as well, which should help. That will be a tough game tonight-Mitchell is the real deal.

Princeton 67
St. Ursula 60

After getting absolutely manhandled in the first quarter, St. Ursula slowly beat Princeton each of the next 3 quarters but couldn't recover from the big deficit they created. They had the bad with 32 seconds left down 4 but turned it over causing Princeton to finish the game at the free throw line.

I can't say exactly for sure but I think Mitchell finished with 32 points. Loesing had 24-26 pts and Napolitano had 19.

Mitchell is like nothing I've ever seen in HS. I'm not just talking girls. She could drive the basket whenever she wanted, she could shake a defender to pull up for a jumper whenever she wanted. She made over the shoulder, no look passes I only see from NBA players. If she didn't have to have the other 4 players on the floor to keep the defenders honest, she could win most games by herself. The only thing I saw was that she started off shooting unbelievably, couldn't miss. In the second half, her long range shooting was off possibly due to her legs wearing down a little but she still drove the lane and made some unbelievable layups while being fouled. Definitely the best player I've ever seen play at the high school level.

I'm assuming the 3 soph are Ayers, Noe, Massa according to roster. My daughter played against Ayers and Noe many times in CYO and AAU they have game and great rythmn together Only seen Massa play volleyball but according to stats looks like she's transitioning well. Seen Leon coach a long time he knows how to get max out of his players.
