Wisconsin school district opts out of free lunch program for students

Another board member said the program enabled families to "become spoiled," according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The free lunch thing has moved into the rediculous. I am fortunate enough to live in a wealthy district where pretty much no one is on free lunch, until recently where everyone gets free breakfast and lunch.

News flash, it’s for poor kids. Remember your financial situation when your family was young? I know you guys all claim to be really financially set, but your view of the world betrays your lack of education and thus, your income. LMAO

Does your "education" level include reading? Apparently not since the article decidedly states that the school is still enrolled in the national free and reduced lunch program for low income kids.

Your income level must be really low...

School lunches, at least when I was growing up, were of extremely low quality and made me feel like crap for a few hours afterward. Not sure how much has changed there

That isn't how it is now, try and keep up.

Nonsense.

My school district offers free lunches AND breakfasts for ALL students who want it. The average salary in our district is $105,000 and the average house price in the district is $285,000.

The real problem is the socialist BOE that voted on this. They also voted to implement CRT and they’re doing everything in their power to bring more minorities and immigrants into our district to enjoy our incomes. My sixth grader‘s class has a new class this year called “Immigration”. CRT and masks were the straw that led us to pulling both kids out of this public school.

The poor already has their EBT cards. Use that to feed your kids and send them to school with food..
F--en lazy MFers.
My kid was a cashier at Walmart over the summer before going back to school. He noticed that many of those EBT famies ate better than most people. Crab legs, big juicy steaks, you name it. Best part is that when the bill was greater than what was on the card, they would whip out a wad of cash to pay the difference.

My parents lived paycheck to paycheck, and I never got a free lunch.

They would pack my lunch and give me 5 cents to buy milk.

That is a valuable real world education. When the Dems start crying about poverty and that we can't cut back social services because no one cheats the system he'll know the bleeding heart nonsense is exactly that.

We have the richest poor people in the world.

It would be great if they actually gave it to poor kids.

I know in my district, during covid last winter, there were cars in line with out of state plates. Lol. They cannot turn anyone away and many of the cars were in the $35,000 range and up and many had a cloud of weed smoke coming from them. They also caught people driving from one district to another and simply loading up on groceries. Lol.

Somehow I always managed to have my lunch provided by my parents. Breakfast and dinner too.
