Manny makes 16 seniors from the 2021 team who will play football in college.
Add the 4 underclassmen (Bonner, Hammond, Wassler and Fogler) and 20 players on last years team will be playing college ball.
Phenomenal.
In comparison the 2007 team had fewer seniors go on to play (14) but had 10 underclassmen starting that went on the play in college.
The fact that Manny, a guy who played special teams and nickel packages will be playing in college not only shows the amount of talent on the team but that despite limited varsity PT the experience was so enjoyable he wants to continue playing for possibly another 4 years.

Think
Did Big Folger just land Michigan offer? There was a picture of him in uniform! That’s a big one there for him!,,
He was there for a visit, but that would be a big step up.
Fleetwood has picked up offers from Towson and Dayton.
Interested to see if Dollenmeyer picks anything up as rhe season goes on, looks like he has a good frame and size.

JJ Dollenmeyer got a PWO Offer to Auburn. Seems like he might not be getting as many looks because he is 6'3". He was probably the strongest player on the team and not getting as much love because he isn't 6'5" but there have been plenty of really good Power 5 OL that have been 6'3". Thinking he might pick up some other offers in the next month or two.

Looking at this list there are 2 players who rarely, if ever, played and 1 player who played sparingly.

This posts raises a point that I have debated with people over the years. It is the question of when a parent should strongly discourage a kid from playing in college. In my humble opinion there are two compelling reasons a kid should pursue playing in college:
1. When they are receiving a free ride. This is particularly important for students who are looking at substantial debt to pay for college.
2. Getting acceptance to an outstanding academic institution. This often applies to the Ivy League schools as well as some elite DIII schools (UChicago, Case Western, Johns Hopkins etc).

A third reason certainly has to do with their passion for the sport, however that alone may cloud their judgement and lead them to selecting a school that is not the right fit for a variety of reasons.

Almost any kid who plays at a school like St X (including those mentioned above who rarely played) can find a school that will let them come play football. For many DII and DIII schools football is actually a recruiting tool for students. These schools will often have rosters of 100+ kids which is significant when a school might have 1800 students. So it is no surprise that a player who rarely every saw the field can secure a spot playing in college.

The question becomes whether playing football in college, especially when it does not come with a scholarship and may be to attend a subpar academic institution, is the right decision. Again I understand a kid having passion for the sport but I believe there are times when parents need to be the voice of reason and help their kids see the big picture before making that commitment.

I am sure there are many who will have a dissenting opinion on this topic, and I respect and understand that opposing view. This is just one man's opinion on the topic.

Totally agree- tell parents/ athletes all the time that if sports went away tomorrow for you would you still choose that college?
Another thing we looked for while our kids were being recruited (before transfer portal blew up) was how many seniors were on the team over the course of a few years vs how many started out on the team their freshman year? It turned out to be a good indicator of the programs culture/coaching. Teams with a ton of freshman and few upperclassmen was a definite red flag. Using athletics to get into a better academic college that may have been a reach for them is smart no matter what the division

Good points.

I think some kids feel pressure to continue sports in college because they've put so much time into it in high school. Am I really just going to give this up after I've spent 11 of the 12 months the last 4 years playing this sport?

I count 15 college prospects on the varsity this season.
We'll see how the offers stack up.
Historically the sophomores who start on varsity earn a D1 schollie 80-90% of the time

Thought I read Andrew Jennings has a couple FCS offers with one of them being Dayton.
Just checked his twitter....offers from Oberlin, Carnegie Mellon and Carleton.
He's grown quite a bit since last season so maybe he can expand the list

Beck committed to Navy and Klare has 2 offers.....updated post 507
