SBAAC 2024 and FAC 2024

I coached vs Hodge and he was a good coach that got ran out of EC. EC has been known to have parents and kids on their committes to hire new Head coaches. Red flags anyone? a committe should be made up of principals athletic directors and coaches not kids and parents.
I've seen this elsewhere.

They should try to get local businesses and get sponsors. I think Wilmington did something like that to get their field at Alumni Field. Don’t quote me though. EC is getting a new gym. They desperately need the football facilities updated.
Just curious what you have heard about EC getting a new gym? I have not heard anything about that. Why wouldn't they have done that when they built the new middle school?

Round 1 SBAAC Playoff Picks:

Wilmington
@ Batavia- Glad that we are getting a rematch of this great regular season game in the postseason! Batavia unfortunately is coming into this game missing WR1. They had no trouble against Goshen last week putting up points, but Goshen did score a good amount on them. The Hurricane defense held Batavia in check most of the game in their first matchup, and I expect Wilmington to come into this game looking for some revenge. I think Wilmington will play hard physical defense and do enough offensively to get past Batavia, and I like the Hurricanes in this one by 1 maybe 2 scores. Also if anyone knows where this game will be streamed, please share! Wilmy 31-21

Roger Bacon @ Clinton-Massie- CM will win by at least 25 points, but Roger Bacon is a pretty darn good 16 seed.. but they will be outmatched and CM shouldn't have much trouble, but I don't think CM is going to blow them out by 40+. CM 35-10

New Richmond @ Valley View- This one will be over fast, Valley view will jump out to big lead early and won't look back. NR will need a lot to go right to have a chance. Valley View 45-14

Maderia @ Williamsburg- Maderia is hard to gauge on if they are good or not. But Burg has had a few head scratchers. I think I will give Burg the slight advantage as they are more consistent, but this one will be a dogfight. Burg 32-28

Gotta give lots of credit to New Richmond. They were 38 point underdogs and played Valley view to the wire! Valley view wins 26-20.

CM 41-7 over Roger Bacon

Wilmington and Batavia have another thriller! Wilmington wins on a walk off FG 37-34! What an awesome year for Batavia!!! Congratulations to the bulldogs!

Maderia beats Burg 28-6. Great season for the wildcats!

Terrible leg injury to a Wilmington player in the 3rd quarter. My best wishes to his recovery.

Round 2 Pick 'em:

Wilmington @ Wapakoneta- Couple years ago Wilmington came into Wapakoneta and gave them a good game. I expect them to do the same this year, but Wapakoneta will win this one, but if they aren't careful Wilmington could give them a tough time. Great season for the Hurricanes regardless of the outcome, and I expect them to be a solid team next year again. Wapak 31-16

Indian Hill @ Clinton-Massie- Indian Hill is a good team and I think they will overall be pretty competitive in this game, but I think CM will outlast them, and I think this game will be closer than people may think, but CM should win comfortably by 2 TDs. CM 28-14

Heard they didn't have enough girls come out to field a team. Last year they were down, but the previous two years they had a lot of success.
They had deep playoff runs in 21-22 and 22-23 and won league titles. After 1 down year they don’t have a team to field because of not enough players? That’s a tough shot for them and upsetting for those kids.

Don't know how reliable but I heard it was less than five.
Thats really unfortunate. So strange though, I think back in 21-22 they made a sweet 16 appearance, now they don't have a team. Hopefully they can get a team back next year. EC girls sports have been their bright spot the last 5-6 years. That Athletic Department has a lot of work to do.

HS sports just isnt what it was 20 years ago. Parents allowing their kids to "specialize" in one sport is really starting to affect other sports. My guess, there are girls that played in the past that are now quitting to join an indoor soccer team or club volleyball team. Things like this at small schools are going to happen more and more often. Why be the 2nd or 3rd player off the bench on the varsity basketball team when you can go play club volleyball. That is the mindset.

And the football season for the SBAAC is concluded! Wilmington suffers a hard loss to Wapakoneta 48-12 and Clinton-Massie suffers a gut wrenching upset loss to the Indian Hill Braves 16-13 in OT. Anybody know what happened to CM? That’s a pretty surprising loss to me.

Whats up with Fayetteville? Why aren't they playing Blan and Bethel? Did Fayetteville leave the league for football? If Fayetteville did leave I think the league needs to try and get another football only member. Maybe Manchester?

I am glad to see EC dropped Hillsboro. They could potentially win 3 non-conference games.

Why aren't Batavia and Williamsburg playing? They didn't play last year.. did the series end? Also Batavia and CNE aren't playing. I am guessing that series is ending as well, and for the better of both programs.

Blanchester has quite a difficult out of conference schedule if you ask me. Greeneview, CCD, CM and Talawanda is quite the task.

Looking at some of these schools and schedules they play, it's nothing more than a intermural league. No wonder why the MAC dominates the small divisions in football and many other sports as well. Can't believe you can find quality coaches for these teams.

Yeah I wonder that about Fayetteville as well. Maybe they are content to play Manchester for the SHL championship in week one? LOL Batavia and Williamsburg had played every year from at least 2007 to 2023, including playing week one the previous seven seasons before this past one. I think maybe Batavia is looking for out of conference games that aren't crossovers? Massie has far and away the toughest schedule on the American side and I agree with you about Blan on the National side.

Another thread had the Blanchester coaching job open, that's a rough schedule for a new coach!
Yeah, its official, it's posted on the OHSAA website. Welcome to Blanchester! You have 5 playoff teams (Greeneview, Cincinnati Country Day, Middletown Madison & Williamsburg) on your schedule! Hope for whoever gets this job that Blan returns a lot of guys who got a lot of snaps this year!

Blanchester definitely isn’t afraid of the competition! Also they have issues it seems like with keeping Head Coaches around. Maybe after these contracts end they will schedule a bit easier. I know Blan and CM is a long rivalry, but it just doesn’t make sense to me why they renewed the series. It doesn’t do much for either team.

I think Batavia is trying to schedule a tougher OOC schedule overall, but I think they should of kept Williamsburg on the schedule, especially considering both schools are looking competitive going forward. But Miami Trace is an upgrade over CNE for sure. Same with Kenton Ridge over Shroder. Glad to see Bethel is still on their schedule, especially after the whole 83-0 game!

Fayetteville left the SBAAC, it wasn’t a good fit for their program at this time.

Honestly this makes me wonder if they will even have football much longer. Honestly, there probably isn't a much better fit in Ohio than the National division of the SBAAC and if that doesn't work where could they go?

100% agree. If the SBAAC National didn’t workout, then they have extremely limited options. Their football program might be on life-support.

I only see two options for Fayetteville for a football conference.

1. Convincing the other SHAC schools to come to the OHSAA and forming a SHAC conference

2. CMAC Blue could work

With how things have been at EC with the declining enrollment and athletics, if option one happens I would bet money that they would want in on that and they too join the SHAC for all sports.

There doesn't seem to be much interest in getting football going in the SHL. I know a few of the schools have started clubs but with the exception of Fayetteville and Manchester I don't think any of them are close to having an OHSAA sanctioned football program. As far as EC is concerned that would definitely be a requirement. A few other potential roadblocks for them is no soccer at EC, which I believe every Southern Hills team currently has and none of them have wrestling, which EC does.

I knew the SHAC schools all had soccer and only Fayetteville and Manchester have OHSAA club teams. I did not know none of them had wrestling. I was always under the idea if the SHAC did get football, that would be EC new best fit overall. But, those could be potential roadblocks.

Maybe in the near future the SBAAC will just have to realign the two divisions or consider expanding. Either trying to add another National league team or add another team to the American and move New Richmond over to the national side.
