Regional Semi-Finals

Oak hills was out played and out coached. Girls cramping up in the 2nd half from not substituting much in the 1st half. Seton's Freshman Goalie made a couple really nice saves. Seton's goals were uncharacteristic defensive lapses and indecision by Oak Hills
Was it a physical match? Once Seton got the 2-0 lead, were they still playing the offside trap?

Tremendous year for the Highlanders! Congrats to them. Feel bad for them as for any of the teams to knock them out, it had to be Seton but going back to last year, hard to beat a neighborhood rival 3 matches in a row!

Can't tell if you are disgruntled fan or a happy critic?
LOL - Neither - just a curious bystander asking about how the game was played as I was not there and have not seen any highlights. Zero dog in the fight.

Been fortunate to watch the Oak Hills vs Seton/Mercy & Elder rivalry from afar which has deep roots dating back to the 70's - it goes from athletics to voting on school levies!

Actually got to go up there. Traffic was a nightmare from Cincy, with some accidents, but made it at game time. What a great atmosphere. Both teams had buses full of students come up. Have watched both teams play a few times this season. Seton does not play a high line/offside trap this year. Making this change, they have cut their Goals against by half, from years past. Was the right call. Both teams played a 4-3-3. Seton was definitely energized and OH looked a little off. OH had a great chance on a 1v1 probably 15 minutes in. Both teams had some quality chances, and both GK's made some great saves. OH Defense had a few indecisive decisions which cost them the 1st goal. A defender and GK thought one was going to get it, and neither did, and Seton scored. Seton got their 2nd goal about 10 minutes into the 2nd half, and OH forced numbers forward after that. Scored 1 with like 7 minutes left, and Seton held on from there. All in all it was a good westisde rivalry game as expected. As far as players cramping, both teams centerbacks were cramping late. I think OH may of had another cramp. Wouldn't say either coach was "outcoached". Both JV and KS have done very well for their respective programs and have represented both programs well. Looks like the soccer on the westside is very strong and will continue to be. Great seasons by both teams and best of luck to Seton in the regional final.

Anyone have any summary of Loveland/Anderson? Saw 0-0 and Loveland won in 2OT? Anderson was previously undefeated.

Oak Hills is tough. They definitely play physical and are quick up front. I went thinking Seton was not going survive that one. Hats off to Seton's game plan. Not the typical trap defense we've seen in the past.

Was at the Mariemont vs Waynesville game. Mariemont got absolutely hosed on an offsides call with about 15 min left in the game. Totally blew it. Was at least 3y offsides. Refs conferred and upheld the goal. The entire field stopped play bc it was so obvious. Really unfortunate in a game that Mariemont held control.

Loveland vs. Anderson

First half was all Loveland as they sent a lot of balls forward and into the box. Loveland must have had 5-6 corners. Anderson did not cross midfield much at all, except for a couple of times. One of those times the striker and defender were both stumbling and the Loveland defender bumped her and the Anderson striker fell and the ref awarded a PK. Others may have a different opinion on this call, by IMO it was not a strong enough foul to award a PK in a 0-0 game, but I know some people disagree with that. IMO, it has to be a clear foul to change the outcome of the game. Either way, Anderson missed the PK so the game went 0-0 into half.

Second half was Andersons. They possessed the ball well and moved it around but could not find any gaps in the Loveland defense. A couple of good chances but could not finish. I don't know if it was the wind or what, but 80% of the play was in that half of the field in both halves.

OT was back and forth, with Anderson playing more possession (as they did most of the game) and Loveland playing more direct. With 3 min in the 2nd OT, Loveland got a free kick on the flank and sent a perfect ball to the far post for a great header finish.

It seemed like Loveland won most of the 50-50 balls and out hustled Anderson, winning the individual battles but Anderson played a more possession/build the ball out of the back style of play. The Loveland defense was strong, given the fact that they shut out an 18-0 team that has not been shut out all season.

Good for Seton solid squad with consistent play. Teams that rely on star players this time of year always struggle.
Let’s be honest, you need stars this time of year. Have you seen setons roster over the last 4-5 years? Multiple d1 commits on the field. This year they have a UC commit.

MND over the last 5 years, loaded with D1 commits.

Summit loaded with d1 commits.

Walsh Jesuit loaded with d1 commits.

You’ve got to have some star talent to be this far,

Apologies, I didn't know Seton was loaded with D1 stars. Not familiar with their roster. Sorry. Either way good for them

Walsh 3-0 over Strongsville

Tessa Blaine and Boro with the game winner over Upper Arlington. 2-1

I said it earlier Boro with a calculated decision to go into Central group looks to be paying off.

Perrysburg beats Dublin Coffman 1-0 in OT. They advance to the State Semifinals against Walsh Jesuit on Tuesday.
