Region 28 Playoffs

What does everyone think the early round matchups will be? Any potential lower seeds pull off any upsets assuming most stay pretty close to where they at with 1 week left ? Does my Redskins squeak in with a loss Friday at 3-7? Who should I be rooting for

Sidney has a winnable game against Xenia this week. If the Jackets do indeed win I think Loramie is a lock, even with a loss to LCC. Even if both Sidney and Loramie lose I think the Redskins are better than even money to make it.

Think they are in. I did a little schedule looking and can't see a scenerio where they drop enough to not get in. Also, think they are the only team in bottom 8 to have chance to make some real noise. But the score from the last game did not encourage the outcome should they draw a MAC opponent. Would love to see Loramie at 15 vs #2 Tri Village. That would likely be best game of first round.

Classic case of careful what you wish for applies to this region.

Here is what I have calculated:

1.Marion Local (I didn't even bother doing their average it is so high).
2. Tri Village 16.35
3. Notre Dame 14.12
4. Riverside 12.55
5. St. Henry 11.46
6. CC Prep 11.08
7. New Bremen 10.4
8. Springfield CC 7.86
9. Ansonia 7.65
10. Fayetteville 7.39
11. Lockland 7.02
12. East 6.00
13. Troy Christian 5.70
14. Fort Loramie 4.82
15. MV Christian 4.49
16. I have Tri-County North and Twin Valley South tying at 4.00 for the right to take a 56-0 drubbing at ML on 10/30.

18. Eastern 2.80
19. New Miami 2.44
20. Southeastern 1.81

Outside of New Bremen or Fort Loramie, I don't see anyone coming within 30 of ML, save for garbage time TDs.

So even with a loss you believe Fort Loramie is in?

This is the third thread I'm basically posting the same thing, but projections for 16 teams worth of seeds is pretty difficult at best. Especially when you add in the fact that Covid has affected many of the L2 divisors. It's just very difficult the further down the seed line you get. I do believe the TCN/TVS winner makes the playoffs. I think Fort Loramie either has to beat LCC or has to have Sidney beat Xenia. Otherwise, I feel like I know very little. I'll be excited to make playoff predictions though once everything is finalized.

I have been saying since the beginning of the year that the State Championship is when MSML and NB meet the second time (and honestly probably again next year), and nothing has changed my opinion. I do feel the Redskins (not the ones from Newport) could make it interesting, especially in bad weather. MSML is special this year, the amount of injuries they have had to key players would stop any other D7 team in their tracks, a team of their injured players could beat most teams in this Region. That being said NB or St Hank will give them a game, St Hank will run the ball and make it a short game and hope for some Flyer mistakes and the Cardinals seem to bee able to match MSML athlete for athlete and their quarterback is special, he will probably need to throw for 300+ yards against them again, but he gives them a punchers chance.

Did you accidentally overlook Sciotoville Community? They are a real player in this with either a win or a loss and their .69 L2 divisor.

No.

In our part of the state, Sciotoville is known as East. I have them in at #12 even with a loss to Notre Dame.

I'm hoping for a Tri County North win to give a potential matchup of Loramie vs Tri Village week 11.

Marion Locals JV will need to be stretched out and ready for action at the 10:15 mark of the first quarter should Miami Valley Christian get a match vs Marion.

Not saying they would win or be very close but Riverside and Tri-Village would have a good shot to be within 30 for sure.
I could be wrong but my belief is the strength order in the region is the 3 MAC schools, a big gap, and then begin with the others. That gap vs Marion I would have at 45 points, St Henry and New Bremen in the 25 point range.

Here is what I project for Region 28:

Region 28:
1) Marion Local (10-0) – 28.19
2) Tri-Village (9-1) – 16.35
3) Portsmouth Notre Dame (7-2) – 14.12
4) Cincinnati College Prep (7-2) – 12.83
5) DeGraff Riverside (7-3) – 12.55
6) St. Henry (7-3) – 11.46
7) New Bremen (7-3) – 10.40
8) Springfield Catholic (7-3) – 7.75
9) Ansonia (6-4) – 7.65
10) Lockland (4-4) – 7.09
11) Fayetteville (5-5) – 6.95
12) Portsmouth Sciotoville (5-3) – 6.59
13) Troy Christian (6-4) – 5.70
14) Tri-County North (5-5) – 5.45
15) Miami Valley Christian (3-7) – 4.53
16) Fort Loramie (3-7) – 4.21

Marion Local beats New Bremen in the Regional Finals to advance to play LCC at Wapak, before the Flyers beat whoever's in their way in Canton on Saturday, December 4th. The end.
That's what I'm thinking too.

Are you factoring in a loss by Sidney in Loramie’s total?

I have to admit, seeing Fort Loramie at 3-7 is so misleading. There are teams that are 3-7, then there are teams like Fort Loramie. With their schedule, they'll be prepared for the playoffs if they make it in. Outside of the MAC schools, I think they would have a great chance at winning a couple of games.

Overall, I think R28 has more depth than I expected heading in. I knew Marion Local would be the frontrunner with New Bremen close behind, but I didn't expect St. Henry to be so competitive. I think Fort Loramie is a quality team as well.

I would be very pleased overall if this was the final results. That would feature a probable Tri Village vs New Bremen round 2 game (2 vs 7) and that winner would see a probable game vs St Henry (winner of 2 vs 7 VS winner of 3 vs 6) allowing Marion Local the privilege of not facing a top power until the regional finals unless you count Fort Loramie as a top power. The only thing better would be a Sidney win over Xenia and see Tri Village vs Ft Loramie round 1. Cant get everything you want when there are 16 seeds lol.

Once again, teams like Notre Dame, College Prep, Lockland, Fayetteville, Sciotoville, etc are in for a rude awakening if they run into the Big MAC3.
