REDS Nike tryout information

Does this program play in a league? Is this a "travel" program that plays against other travel teams in weekend tournaments, but this one has the Reds branding?

So many select sports programs are not at all forthcoming about that information. Just some vague tryouts.

It is because they are snake oil salesmen.

The best ability a kid needs to be on these travel teams is the parents ability to write that check.

Unlike many other treavel teams / organizations yes, the better players makes the stronger teams and gets to travel the country and experice MLB all star game and compete in the Nike World series. Unlike many organizations there is a pathway to growth and the REDS does pay for some travel etc... Fees are MUCH lower than any other youth club that would travel like they do.

The REDS acceps players from all levels and yes they do put on their own leagues to get players playing time spring, summer, fall.

If one wants to see the diffrence between the average travel organization and the REDS just stop in and check out the REDS facility?

Including the MANY Boys and Girls that have move on to play beyond HS in the sports they love. A, B, or C level. Most organizations jusrt say we are an A level organization but many have C level coaching....

You can check out the REDS website MLB/Nike teams. Here is a link showcasing what the teams did last summer.

Obviously, you do not know much about the MLB/Nike RBI organizations.

Name one other youth sports organization outside of other RBI in Indy, Pitt and Cleveland that takes players of all abilities and works to have them have fun playing a sport that not only is life changing for some but in some cases the only outlet for others.

RBI supports under privileged youth and gives them a place to play, used equipment available to play with as many cannot afford cleats, a glove, or a bat. Spring, summer and fall league play with occasional local travel at a B/C level.

Players have opportunities to get on one the NIKE National travel teams playing against other MLB/Nike teams around the country at an A/B level. Check out some of the 2023 All Start game activities, 2023 REDS run to the world serice posted on another thread. The play is solid as seen with the Houstion RBI that was loaded with D1 power 5 players. Most REDS players tend to fall in the DII,DIII, NAIA or JC play but there have been several over the years that recieved DI offers.

Don’t take my word for it see for yourself. Swing down to the youth academy. Walk the halls, check out the large wall of fame of young ladies and men that got the opportunity to play at the next level. (Some are even RBI B level players at HBCUs).
Talk to some coaches check out for yourself better yet volunteer some time , Attend a coaches clinic, have players attend one of the many clinics offered as coaches and teams that travel from all over the tristate to meet current and former Olympic players and coaches, college and well known HS coaches that lead many of the RBI teams while getting top of the line instruction.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought RBI was for underprivileged kids who couldn't afford the high level expensive travel ball. I thought that was what all the 50/50 raffle and other fund raising the Reds organization did was to pay for it. I didn't think parents had out of pocket expenses outside of their own travel, as the players were paid for through the organization. If so, how are they being fleeced by the organization? Again maybe I misunderstood, but that was my impression.

Fleecing their parents is what these organisation's are best at....
While I do understand your frustrations I am guessing some of your issues comes from bad experiances or maybe a family member not getting asked to play on a team.
Not all organizations are alike and yes there are a lot of organizations that over committ and under deliver. Thus why it important for parents to try before you buy. With the REDS or any organization I always recommend parents and players actually visit the academy and talk to the teams coach prior to agreeing to play. The good thing with the REDS is there are teams for a variety of skill levels and naturally the recreational teams do not have tryouts.

You are correct. The website that was posted earlie pretty much covers the mission of MLB RBI programs. The REDS do sponsor teams at all levels for league and tournament play. Most of the teams are b/c level teams that play local events and leagues for players at little to no cost.
The REDS also upkeeps many of the Cincinnati area recreation fields and High school fields for the ladies to practice and play on and provides gloves bats, catchers gear and safety equipment for play while at the academy.
Now there is more of a committment for the NIKE JR/SR teams that Thavoice may look at as fleecing who knows. Most of the cost is still offset by the REDS for the JR/SR programs I would say these teams have added value with the coaching, and experiances for the players.
Like other travel clubs, tournament teams cost to play has many factors that include number of events played in and type of events played in. While yes other MLB Nike RBI teams may play in more high profile events like the Co sparkler the REDS age specific teams generally play more of Fastpitch showdowns type of tournaments and local events. Again, It is best to attend tryouts if one is serious about playing. While there talk to the team coach and parents and check out the facilities prior to any decision to make sure its a good fit. (I would recommend doing this for any potential organization). With this said, I have never heard of a family unhappy about their decision to play for the REDS but who knows there may be one as there are a lot of players and families that come through the program.
