I'm assuming Grey Burnett is a hold back he was pretty small all along. Likely he didnt cut any weight to go 108.

Perzanowski said in an interview with Zeb that he is going to Union Local. As for other non placers, I’d strongly assume Micah Krieger and Logan Souders are going to Graham.

Great jr high wrestler I’m sure he will be fine in high school but his style will have to change I think to have the same success he has had. He not going to do the same thing to guys like Shulaw and such.

You don't think he's beating Shulaw right out the gate? Well GrizzelDad, I respectfully disagree!

Son, I'm old enough to remember when they said the same thing about a lanky kid from Thompson High in Spokane Washington who cut down to 167 to face the previously unbeaten state champ. Nobody gave him a chance until one day when in the middle practice he stopped drilling and climbed the pegboard. That man was Louden Swaine!

You might say it was a visionquest, but all he ever settled for is that we're born to live... and to die... and we've each gotta do it alone... He also went to bed with a 27 year old hitchhiker that same year, but that's a different story.

I've also heard that he allegedly had difficulty holding his mud. More so as he got older.

Does he like tapeworms?

He could have a chance v Shulaw, if Shulaw broke an ankle on his way the center would be it. Feister is a great jr high wrestler and a freak athletically, but he’s not touching Shulaw who is a state champ and Ironman champ, and is actually close to age with Feister. Believe it or not Shulaw is not a holdback, just like Feister gifted and works his butt off.

What do you describe as a hold back? Shulaw will be 18 before the start of his senior year.

Newsflash....so will A LOT of students. As a matter of fact, he could be 19 before the start of their senior year and still play sports all year. You are allowed to play high school sports in Ohio up until you are 20 years old.

I graduated high school at 17 and college at 21. However, my wife, who was in the same graduating class was over a year older than me. My daughter will be 18 when she graduates high school. My son will turn 19 just before his high school graduation. So what. Every situation is different.

Well the cutoff was Aug 1, when is his bday
The cutoff in his school district, and Ohio is September 30th. Simple rule, if a student turns 18 before September 30th of their senior year; he/she is a holdback. Wether you do it in kindergarten, or the 8th grade it’s still a holdback. Btw, I don’t have a problem with holdbacks, I encourage doing whatever is best for your child. I just hate when people shame others for doing the same exact thing they did; just in a different way!

He is not touching many highscool wrestlers. I Don't see the hype. Its Jr high folks calm down.

I don't know the kid and have never seen him wrestle, and I agree that it would be a tall order for anyone to challenge Shulaw next season (let along a freshman), but winning the OAC Junior High State Tournament is one of the surest indicators of high school success. There are too many freshmen to name that have come in and made an impact at the OHSAA Tourney after winning OAC.

At OAC the lighter weight classes seem to be more "deep" when you look at them many years later. The kids just aren't as spread out because of maturity and age. Many people question the upper weights being able to have success in high school because of the strength and maturity advantage when they are wrestling mostly juniors and seniors. But, Alex Taylor from Mount Vernon placed third at 215 Division 1 this year as a freshman so there are kids that translate very well as freshmen in the upper weights.

Lol the kid won it as a 6th grader by fall in the finals. The hype is real. Is he beating Shulaw? Likely not, as I think Shulaw may have an argument for the top spot in the country next year, but I would be shocked if he didn’t place high next year.

I dont know if it's a state rule or not. But I can tell you for a fact many schools use Aug 1st.

My experience in it is this. My oldest son (now a very young freshman) has a Sept 08 birthday. When he was 4 our school at the time tested every kid who's birthday was in Sept and told you if they thought he should go to school or wait a year. They tested him and told us he should head to kindergarten. In hindsight I would have definitely waited. Not really due to wrestling, just because his eyes changed so much he struggled learning to read at first and now doesn't like reading. He's a straight A student and a much better kid than he is a wrestler.

Fast forward 2 years. I have twins with a Aug '10 birthday. School policy changed and Aug 1st is the date. No more testing, after Aug 1st, they wait until next year to start. I dont know the situation here, and frankly it's irrelevant.

My only gripe with the whole Feister, and similar situations is that he was able to wrestle oac D4 in 2019, 2020 (canceled due to covid), and 2021. I think he should have had to count 2021 as his 7th grade year regardless. 2022 as an 8th grader. And sit 2023 if he didn't want to go to high school similar to the numerous other oac champs who sat a year.

Whereas my oldest got one year in d4 (2020 which was canceled) because i didn't think holding him back was appropriate for our situation.

I hope all of them continue to wrestle and succeed at the highest levels. Ohio could sure use some more nationally ranked kids and potential all Americans.

All hype! And MANY freshman place at state. Why is that a big deal? Why is winning it as a hold back 6th grader the judge of what you will do in highscool? Many oac youth and jr high and tulsa Champs do nothing in highscool or less than expected. Kids bodies develop at different rates people's.

I respectfully disagree. Sure, there are wrestlers who are successful at the junior high level that don't go on to similar success at the high school level, but (and again, I don't know this athlete and I've never seen him wrestle) if this kid has won two or three OAC titles then he's likely very special. When you look at the list of names of the wrestlers that have won OACs three times or even two times, it's pretty impressive...names like Jaggers, Stieber, Taylor and Phillips

You are wrong the cutoff was Aug 1 now it is Aug 30, never has been sept, and it’s not based by the district it’s based by the state.

Doesn’t matter if he’s 18 or 19… as long as he’s not 20 he will compete in the OHSAA.
