This rivalry is one of the oldest and best in all of Ohio.
Ironton and Portsmouth have played each other 128 times since 1902.
Ironton leads the series 61-60-7.
Between 1906 and 1910, these teams played each other 9 times and Portsmouth outscored Ironton 268-0.
In the Bob Lutz era of Ironton football, Ironton dominated, going 31-10-1 against Portsmouth.
They should definitely think of wearing Tanks and Spartans uniforms for a throwback game.
Not only is the W-L record close, the differential in scoring is just 0.65 after 118 years of playing each other.

This season Portsmouth's 2 losses were both by 1 point. Ironton's only loss was to Moeller 25-7.

Senior Night for Ironton, I take the Tigers over the Trojans. OVC Championship for Ironton if they win.
Should be standing room only at Tank Stadium as only 29 miles separate these two river towns.

D5 R19 matchup

Ironton lost their starting qb early in the 1st qtr. and was down 9-7 at the half. They came out 2nd half and shut Portsmouth out to win 36-9.
Tigers are now 9-1 and 2021 OVC Champs and should be #1 seed in DV R19.

I was wondering why Wheelersburg beat beat them win the had a running clock put on them during the regular season.
