Elder has the #2 seed and will play #15 seed 3-7 Middletown in Round 1 of the playoffs at The PIT.

Middletown results this season.

Loveland won 47-33
Fairfield lost 42-14
Hamilton lost 17-0
Lakota East lost 14-13
Mason lost 10-7
Sycamore won 28-24
Colerain won 20-18
Princeton lost 42-14
Lakota West lost 33-7
Oak Hills lost 7-0

Middletown does have an impressive win over Colerain, but losing to Oak Hills 7-0 last week tells us a lot. If they can't score on Oak Hills, it will take a turnover or blown play to score on Elder. Elder should win comfortably here.

3 goals.

1. Win of course.
2. Look sharp and put them away early.
3. Empty the benches. No sense playing starters deep into the game when up by 4 touchdowns. They have good backups that can hold the game in check. I'm not saying playing 3rd and 4th teamers, but let the 2nd string finish the game out to hold the lead. Do not risk injury to starters.

Elder will be able to run the ball, Middletown has a couple nice players on offense. I am a little concerned about Middletown speed. Elder 31 - 10

35-7 Elder. Middletown scores a 4th Qtr TD to erase the shutout. Elder builds a 21-0 lead by halftime. Lot of Flowers, lot of Schoster, lot of Reuter in 2nd half.

way to take the cheap shot at oak hills. your a class act. keep up the good work.

i do think elder will win but it won't be b/c they couldn't score on OH, it will be because they are the better team. Middletown does have a few good athletes though.

I have an over all tourney bracket question. Teams seeded 1-4 get 2 home games assuming they win the first one. What happens if one of those teams loses their first game ? Does the team that upset them in round one get the next rounds home game ?

I don't think so. I believe the OHSAA rules say the better seeded team gets the home game.

Stop it. What I said was negative towards Oak Hills, but it was not a cheap shot. It was a legit argument as to why Middletown will struggle to score. Elder's defense is a lot better than Middletown's LAST opponent and Middletown scored 0 on them. If their last opponent was Hamilton, I would have said the same thing.

Oak Hills is not good. I wish they were, I want Oak Hills v Elder game back. It was always fun to attend that game.

I could see the final score being closer than predicted, bc Elder will take the air out of the ball the minute they feel they get a comfortable lead. However, I don’t expect the outcome of the game to ever be in doubt.

Are all of the tickets sold for the Elder game general admission or did the season ticket holders get their seats for this game first ?

Season ticket holders received an email earlier this week. It is General Admission, but the honor system on sitting in your own seats.

I agree. I think it’s become Coach Ramsey’s modus operandi against overmatched opponents to get to a running clock and then let everyone get playing time.

Coach Ramsey has never run it up on a team. He use to get a 28 point lead and coast. Now he has put it to a running clock (30 points) and coast and gets everyone in. He knows it is difficult to schedule teams, so he never shows anyone up. No need to beat someone 50-0

I could even see them not hitting a running clock, maybe a final score of 28-7. I don’t expect Elder to throw the ball more than 10x on Friday.

I could see it being more like the Cov Cath game where they passed 17 times and ran it 37 times. This could change if the defense plays well and gives the offense a short field all night.

Getting the #2 seed was big for the reason they can afford to get some guys healthier who have been playing through some nicks/bruises/injuries. That can mean either resting them fully or playing a more limited amount to get fresh for the next round.
