Pittsburgh Pirates Thread

Won't show up on the box score but he pitched really well. He didn't throw many bad pitches but the few he did got hammered and some bad defense didn't help. Looking forward to seeing more of him when the time comes

Well, they got rid of Alford and Fowler. Thank goodness. Don't think Todd Frazier Is the answer but at least we don't have to witness anemic hitting from those two

Bucs win 2-1 over the Royals move over .500 at 12-11. It’s not sustainable but this team is showing a lot of heart minus their best player.

Getting Hayes back and bumping Newman out of the lineup will be a big lift to the offense.

Tomorrow’s game will be interesting to watch for Mitch Keller. He pitched his best game last week. It would be huge for the Pirates if he can keep that up.

Well Keller didn’t do well. That’s a bad sign. Thing is the Bucs will trade him and he will win the CY Young in 3 years.

Yeah, I feel like we're going to get a lot of seesawing this year from him. Hopefully by August he's developed consistency

Good game last night against the Braves. Just enough pitching and hitting to win in ten. I believe Frazier was 4/5 - an impressive showing.

Pittsburgh got their 57th win of the year tonight. vs. cincinnati. That is the number of wins projected by Sports Illustrated for the Bucs an the beginnin g of the year. Lets hope they can win a few more and avoid 100 losses.

Reports are the Pirates are trying to extend Hayes. Their initial offer was already turned down but it's still nice to see them actually trying. Hopefully they can extend both Hayes and Reynolds.

Looks like Mitch Keller has improved quite a bit in the off-season. Had a rough day today but otherwise has looked really good in ST. Would be huge if he actually realizes the hype and potential he displayed in the minors.

JT Brubaker will start on Opening Day. Keller and Quintana are also locked into the rotation. The last two spots will probably be a revolving door all season. They've got veteran guys in Max Kranick, Wil Crowe, Bryse Wilson, Chase De Jong, and Zach Thompson and a couple young guys in Miguel Yajure and Roansy Contrares trying to win those spots.
