Pittsburgh Pirates Thread

The one good thing about having a crappy team and a nice ball park is attendance figures. Fans from Philly, Cubs, Cards, etc will travel to Pittsburgh to...
1. See a nice ballpark in the heart of the city
2. Get relatively affordable prices for tickets ( as compated to other venues)
3. Will have plenty of seats to pick from since the Burg cant sell out on their own, even with a small seating capacity
4. A good chance at getting a victory against a bottom feeder

Only drawback for me is a post game crowded casino, with blackjack tables table minimums being raised 😀

Agreed, he is the best. IMO he also has the hottest girlfriend in the MLB and I'm not sure that is close either. More research needed. ;)

As bad as Pittsburgh's attendance numbers are (26th out of 30th) they would go to Miami Marlins territory if they gave Skenes away. The only way the Yinzers would get over that would be something nutso, like to the Dodgers for Betts, Freeman and Ohtani.
But we all know Pittsburgh cant afford those 3 players dry cleaning tabs, let alone salary
 
I don’t know the details but Skenes throws another shutout (5 innings why was he pulled early?) As has been the case he had no offensive help and the Bucs beat the Cubs in 10. That 1.88 era went down a few digits.

His pitch count was getting high. I cant remember the actual number, but the Cubs had some lengthy at bats with plenty of foul balls
Pittsburgh had somebody warming either the 3rd or 4th inning

Right I saw that mentioned on line. At this rate he’ll be lucky to win 10-12 games. Hope he stays healthy.

The fact that a non Ohio professional sports thread even exists in ANY capacity is a testament to Pittsburgh fandom. I dont see any Detroit, Buffalo or Indy threads. Nor Columbus Blue Jackets. Its even more impressive that the Pirates are 46 seasons removed from their last World Series. 5 winning seasons since 1992. But here we are, 2nd worst record in the NL and still we check in from time to time

ohh geez ;I came in the Buccos thread with the intention of paying tribute to one of the greats ..Dave Parker . Which I will now. Great player Loved that he smoked grits in the dugout during games and liked the ganja as well. RIP Cobra . But , then I see where you wolffy day 1. Skenes is best pitcher in baseball?!?!?! Un No ..Thats Derrick Skubal .AND YOU SAY HES GOT THE BEST LOOKING GF AND ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE?!?!!?/1 lololol . Justin Verlander may want o have a word with you . He is married to a WOMAN .A real woman . And its a little sketchy on you perving on Olivia Dunn..what is she ,22!??!?! I just compared Skubal numbers to Skenes. With the obvious difference in W-L due to run support their numbers are pretty similar. Skenes better WAR, ERA & HR allowed. Skubal better WHIP, BB, K/9.
But you raise a valid point w/ hot wives and gfs. Obviously Kate Upton. I posted the wives of the 2 prominent Pirates. Maybe not supermodel knockouts, but attractive women nonetheless. I'll bet both the McCutcheons and Reynolds stay married for a long time

I hope they wait a little while to go back to being the 2025 Bucs. I'm going to the game July 2nd. The Cardinals fans always travel well
 
I believe the Bucs won their *sixth game in a row beat the Cards 1-0. Skenes started and pitched well but got a no decision.

*actually the 5th straight
