Adena Warriors Softball Team Looks to Rebuild and Compete in 2025
The Adena Warriors softball team is gearing up for the 2025 season. Assistant Coach Darin Halcomb is optimistic about the team's prospects despite the loss of six key seniors from last year's squad.
The Warriors return two experienced seniors in Adelynn Nelson and Adriana Guarnieri, who will provide leadership and stability to the team. Nelson, an outfielder, hit .261 last season with 18 runs, while Guarnieri, a catcher and center fielder, batted .329 with two home runs and 22 RBIs.
Sophomore Marly Halcomb is also expected to play a key role for the Warriors. Halcomb, a shortstop, hit an impressive .433 last season with 23 RBIs and 36 runs.
While the Warriors have some talented returnees, they will need to rely on a number of young players to fill out the roster. Freshmen Allie Bossert and Addy Cottrill will take on key roles as the team's pitching staff, and Halcomb is excited to see how they will perform.
Despite the youth and inexperience of the team, Halcomb is confident that the Warriors can compete in the Scioto Valley Conference. "Our league is up for grabs," he said. "We are going to bring our best each night and see what happens."
The Warriors will need to work on replacing the production of last year's senior class, which won a lot of games over their four years. However, Halcomb is optimistic about the team's potential and believes that they can overcome their youth and inexperience to have a successful season.
