Peyton Manning out for year w 2nd neck surgery

I'm guessing the career ending stuff has more to do with his age than the injury itself? If he can't make it back for next season, does he just retire?

 Colts announce he is down for the year. Nice try, though.

That's a smart move by the organization. An 0-3 start in the NFL makes your chances of making the playoffs slim to none, and the team has more problems than just missing Peyton Manning. This does prove Manning's worth to the team, however, because they're a playoff team with Manning, even with the holes on that team.

I had a family member get the exact same surgery as Manning will be getting. It's pretty serious, but with good care he will be back to full speed next year. Pretty freaky to think he will be back considering a piece of his hip will be fuzed with his spine. No big deal...

Why haven't the colts considered signing david garrard? He seems like the best possible fit...i mean he's no peyton manning, but he's not a bad qb

Hoping he ends up in Washington so the Browns have a much easier shot at trading for the #2 pick.

He's actually tailor made for the Redskins. They have $40 million in cap money while Miami has $13 million & Arizona has $10 million and a crappy O-Line.

I've heard Manning would like a "package deal" of himself, Reggie Wayne & Jeff Saturday. With the money Washington has, they could get all three, along with Pierre Garcon if they wanted him, and STILL go out and get a few guys for the defense while using their high draft picks to fill in other holes. They'd likely be an instant contender with the Giants in the NFC East.

One concern is how Manning would get along with Shanahan and his scripting of the offense. The two styles certainly don't mesh.

The only Redskins fans I know want no part of Manning. They want RGIII and the rebuilding process to begin

And I don't blame them but I get the feeling that Shanahan will be in "win now" mode with his head possibly being on the chopping block.

I'm thinking he lands in Miami. Even before being released, they seemed like the favorite to land him.

"Manning has a condo here and has been working out with former Colts teammate Reggie Wayne, who lives in South Florida."

From everything I've been reading, Manning wants to play with Wayne. James/Bosh to Heat in 2010, Reyes/Buerhlie/Gio Gonzo/Edwin Jackson/Bell to Marlins in 2012, and possibly Manning with maybe Wayne to Dolphins in 2012??? Miami OWNS the FA market.

Reggie Wayne has said that he would like to play in Miami if Manning ends up there. Could be a factor in Manning's decision.
