Perry dominated a one sided matchup against the Crusaders in week one. Akron St.V won a hard fought game at Mansfield. What we thinking?
 
 
I think the Fighting Irish will be a much bigger challenge than CCC. I’m an old school guy and believe no matter what offense or defense you run, it comes down to the fundamentals. I think this game will come down to the fourth quarter before the winner steps up. Whoever has less penalties, turnovers, can execute well on first and third downs, along with not giving up big momentum plays on defense will end up the winner. Basically who controls the line of scrimmage.

St.V plays two quarterbacks. One is the thrower and one runs the read option. There offense looked ok and there defense looked about the same. I see Perry winning by 14 pulling away in the second half. Go Panthers!!
 
The biggest thing the Irish needed to fix coming into 2024 was the direction of the program from the coaches trickling down through the players. Gone is a head coach whose primary concern was just making it to retirement.

Coach Grant comes in and immediately takes steps to change the attitude of the players. He recognized how they used to stack up against Hoban and Walsh, and where they are now. Have to get your own house in order first. I know it is an extremely small sample size (1 game) - but going on the road to a 2023 playoff team in an iconic HS stadium setting with an extremely young team and winning is very impressive.

As with any young team, there will be growing pains. Perry is talented, and coming in looking to atone for last year's loss at Wakefield Stadium. This game Friday should be an excellent test for both squads. It will be Coach Grant's first game back at Green Street since he himself wore jersey 21 for the green and gold clad Irish.

So, welcome to Green Street, our visitors from Stark County. Looking forward to this game, and I hope both squads get through it injury free.
