Perkins football coach Santoro facing suspension after bus incident

He should be facing an in-season suspension. Loss of opportunity to coach games, because this incident took place in-season

I realize it could indirectly punish the kids but life isn't fair.

Sounds like a young coach who has some maturity issues. As far as the DC/Principal… sounds like a moron.

Not sure how you spin this into anything positive. Sad situation.
Santoro is 30/31 years old. He’s a grown man. No reason to get caught up in that stuff.

Lost possibly in all this, what a kind and professional courtesy by the Bellevue staff. These are kids, your team or theirs. First, last and only priority.
True. I think the fact that Bellevue had offered that for other schools, in past years, shows it was not directed at Perkins.

I actually think its pretty funny. The fact that they would go out of their way to drive by and yell stuff. You can't do it of course, its stupid, but pretty funny from someone on the outside looking at it.

It's a moment of immaturity by a young coach. Yes, 30/31 years old is still young for a head coach. Deal out the punishment, hopefully him and the other coaches and players learn from it, and move on. If stuff like this is repeated down the road then that's a different issue

I would tend to agree but the behavior by Perkins coaches and players the last few years has been awful and there’s a pattern there since Santoro took the job. There was an issue at the end of the Napoleon game that was started by Perkins coaches too.

And the next week....

Doubt this changes anything in his attitude or makes him remorseful about the incident... Especially since his mom and sister are posting/commenting on social media saying that Bellevue deserved this and any punishment is unwarranted. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree it looks like.

He seems to have plenty of defenders in that town. 0% chance anything changes

Winning is great and all but at the end of the day your main job as a HS football coach; and especially a principal, is raising teens to become responsible respectful adults that can positively help society. Absolutely mind blowing and thought it was a joke when I saw pop up on Twitter last night. Sad....

I understand your general idea but I just have to point out that that is the job of the parents.

The job of the principal, teachers and coaches is to provide safe, high quality classes/programs that give kids the opportunity to prepare themselves for the future.

Having said that, there is no place for how the Perkins coach and principal acted in this situation. They are very lucky it's only a suspension.

Horrible look on Santoro and the principal….horrible. Beyond horrible and he’s lucky he got to coach in the title game.

But the bad blood started as soon as Santoro took the job. I don’t think Bellevue is innocent over the years in how they treated one of their own. Given it was just a 5-day suspension, my guess is Perkins people probably have seen and heard quite a bit of the bad blood themselves. But again, refer to my opening paragraph.

As far as the Glenville thing goes - Bellevue knew there was some bad blood going between Glenville and Perkins. Ted Ginn knew there was bad blood between Perkins and Bellevue. Connect the dots. I’d be pissed too if my alma mater and fellow league member put out the welcome wagon to my opponent that day. And again, Glenville is a whopping 80 miles away from Clyde. My guess is Glenville had open access to any film Bellevue had on Perkins in HUDL that week as well. The entire thing can be diced any way Bellevue wants, but it was bush league.

Bellevue has done that before…..and other schools have done that. But again it goes back to the circumstances surrounding it all. It absolutely was directed at Perkins. I’m still at a loss of why Glenville needed this. I mean it’s 1:15 trip and a straight shot down the turnpike. Did Bellevue need to stop in Toledo somewhere when they played at Wauseon?

5 days, during the off-season is a slap on the wrist. Exiting the bus to scream F-Bombs at this guy's house, in front of a bus load of students is about as immature as it comes.
He's losing 5 days pay. How much do you make a day?
