Final Comments:
Keys to be successful offensively:
The ability to run the ball and control the clock will be paramount to our success this season. We have
been more high octane in years past but the 2024 version of Rocket football will need to successful in
the trenches and take shots when we can.
Offensive strengths:
Cory Gerten is back at QB for 3rd year. Andrew Miller and Ben Burkholder combined for 1500 yds last
season. Majority of OL played meaningful minutes last season.
Offensive concerns:
Skill on the outside in WR positions. Lack of depth. With a smaller roster we can not afford to lose
guys for a long period of time.
Keys to be successful defensively:
Pass rush. Stop the run. Create turnovers. Cliche for any defense but definitely our top priorities.
Defensive strengths:
We will be lead by Andrew Miller and Ben Burkholder at the LB spot. Both were all league performers
last season with Andrew Miller being an early BVC Defensive player of the year candidate.
Defensive concerns:
Lack of depth everywhere. Defensive Secondary will have to bring in 3 new varsity level players. Lack
of a pass rush.
Special teams strengths:
Punter Cory Gerten was atop the BVC in average punting yards.
Special teams concerns:
Many new players at almost every special team position.
Conference outlook:
The BVC might be as competitive as it has been in recent memory. LB, McComb, Leipsic are traditional
powers. If P-G is going to be in that list come week 10 then we will have to show up, ready to work, all
season long. The 30-35 young men at Pandora-Gilboa are ready for the challenge.
