I'm not naive to think it doesn't happen, but also a little ignorant to what actually does go on. What are the requirements to become a school board member anyways? Just get your name on the ballot and hope people vote for you?

Joking/not joking aside, I don't think much, but my guess is it maybe varies by district and the makeup of said district. I'm sure it very much is a networking and political thing, some districts worse than others and I'm sure there are some good and dedicated people in this esteemed group, like most things, few bad apples give a bad taste and can cloud the group as a whole.

Agreed. There really aren’t any formal qualifications beyond asking, “What matters most to my school district and community?”

Recently, someone ran for our local School Board who homeschools her children rather than sending them to the school district of said Board. Had she been elected, she planned to continue homeschooling. She ultimately didn’t win one of the open seats, but the race was closer than many expected. She’s an active member of the community and seems like a nice person, but some viewed certain aspects of her candidacy as red flags. Of course, other communities might not see things the same way and value some aspects more than others. It really does vary.

There needs to be a website where every board candidate needs to put their info on it. Party affiliation, stated goals, campaign financials.....ALL OF IT.

Because Ohio is a backwater state it will never happen here. We'll just keep guessing on who is elected to the school board.

In fact a transparent school board website won't happen ANYWHERE in the USA. Not even in my beloved Kentucky where the economy is personally built for me: gambling, bourbon and tobacco.

The administration for not addressing issues with the coach as the came up because they have no tuffness and instead trying to air years' worth of grievances in a crappy non-renewal and behind the scenes text messages full of buzzwords to cement their position. I am a firm believer that if honest conversation happens most problems are resolved before it escalates to this.

100% and the Deshields need to file a defamation suit against against the school board president and likely one for targeting and harassment against the super. This type of behavior demands serious repercussions against the people who act this unethically

I inquired about a school board related position years ago. They asked me a bunch of word salad-like corporate America questions.

I answered by saying I have tuffness, a lot of heart, I love BellStores, I have a free beach haus, I drink more bourbon than John Daly and can be out there the next day at the crack of dawn, smoke more cigars than Winston Churchill and most importantly I can move some damn product.

I should have been accepted on the spot but seeing hesitation from them after my answer I swore at them and threw a chair across the room before I stormed out.

Few can match the radio of WKLM 95.3 where they play Top 40 bangers complimented with hometown sports coverage.

In fact we may need to have a ranking of the local radio juggernauts. I'd say WKLM and WJER are near the top. Q92 has Jordan Miller News and Sam Bourquin. But watch out for Sam....he switches radio stations so much I can't keep up.

WHBC is the bottom. Jim Johnson is rolling in his grave. No one wants to share Pam Cook's vision of bad radio.

WQKT became the babbling brook and forfeited its onetime advantage. The River is a babbling brook.

Smoove need to be allowed to be color-commentatifier for high school games. Smoove will draw the peeps in, specifically the chickies, and then when the dudes get home from the game, chickies gonna be all primed for poundifyin'!! They be waitin' in the bedroom with nighties on, edible panties, or NONE, and then it gonna just be the dudes going from game to POUND-TOWN!
 
The PAC is afraid to take Mogadore because the Wildcats would embarrass most of the league competition most years in most sports and especially in football. Same reason the PAC won't take CCC. Sad, really.

Yeah, PACtion is tremendously scared of bringing in a school with a rich history that just dropped to D7 and had to pass an emergency May levy to avoid State oversight of their finances.

Adorni is TOP NOTCH head coach who will always field a competitive team, but Mogadore's days as a homecoming queen of a district are in the past. Football is better when they're good, but the Wildcats have more pressing matters to deal with right now.
 
Would Mogadore have won a single league championship in football over the last seven years if they had been in the PAC? I doubt it. Maybe they would have tied for first in 2022, but that's it.

2018- Orrville was better than Mogadore
2019- Orrville was better than Mogadore
2020- Northwest was better than Mogadore
2021- Mogadore lost a non-conference game to third-place Manchester
2022- Possible, but CVCA, Canton South, and Northwest were likely better
2023- Canton South was better than Mogadore
2024- Manchester was better than Mogadore

The gap between the PAC and the Portage Trail Conference is significant, and Mogadore didn't win the PTC in 2016, 2017, 2020 or 2021.

Mogadore aka Olde Akron logic.....the Wildcats won a poll title in the early 1950's but Massillon didn't.

At least Rittman has orchards and an IGA.

Maybe if Mogadore didn't use the 2006 version of PowerPoint when presenting to the #PACtion™ decision makers they would have received a nicer rejection when they applied.
