I'll give you that, NW has awful turf too but it's not even in the same universe as Dover's. It's crazy to me that two very well supported programs have let their facilities fall into such a state of disrepair when the solution is so reasonably priced and easily done
It's even deeper rooted than that at Northwest. The turf project went hand in hand with the new high school being built. The turf project was literally led by one parent in the community - literally went door to door taking donations. It felt like the school didn't really care one way or another - at least that's how it looked to me. So once it was installed, it was obviously on the school to maintain it, and frankly they just never bought the raking machine that you ride on....when you don't rake it regularly, you get exactly what has happened. Now....if they bought a machine now and did it, maybe it could come back to life, I just don't know enough about it...but in reality, that turf is about 13 years old now, give or take a year....so it's probably beyond a turf's life expectancy at this point anyways.....will be interesting to see how they raise to the funds to replace it...

I remember being really impressed by that community committee that got the whole thing done with donations and some of them actually doing the work themselves. I distinctly recall an image of a 70+ year old man driving a bulldozer that he owned in a shirt and tie being in the paper somewhere showing the progress being made. Pretty remarkable stuff

Maybe I'm biased, but the best sunset, hands down, goes to Triway (especially if you're sitting on the home side).

Here you go @thePITman.

But one-off competition from an all-time amazing sunset last fall at Northwest

Ohiostadiums.com has a really nice collection of Ohio HS stadium photos. It's a good way to kill some time at ye olde office computer.

This gem is Sebring's stadium which will host 8-man football starting this year (I believe). This stadium looks old, tuff, and has quality 1976 era artwork:

Garaway is like a solid hour drive for me...maybe 50 minutes...we still go down there just for the pizza every couple months lol....It is literally so freaking good. I've never even been to a Garaway home game so IDK what they're stadium is actually like.....but to have that gem literally in the parking lot....had to mention them lol
GREAT! Just GREAT! Super BK Fries today, Michael's donuts tomorrow and now I'm going to Sugarcreek for pizza at some point this weekend.

I love (AND HATE) you guys so much!

Anyone been to Indian Valley since the new stadium was built in Gnadenhutten? I saw it a few years ago while still under construction. The wooded hillside made a nice backdrop if sitting on the home side.

St. Clairsville has a beautiful stadium as well.
I stretched "in the area" by mentioning Harrison Central, but this was the next "worth the road trip" place I was going to mention!
St. Clairsville is a pretty sweet experience. (N.B. I went there for a playoff game, so a home StCv game may be different mileage in experience.)

If you park on the home team’s side, the point of admission is the entrance of the parking lot. So, you park after you pay to get in. Where this is neat is you can vacillate between the game and your car. As in, where you sit can be a short 30-second walk from the car. The top of the home stands is the same grade as the parking lot.

Honestly not a fan of the stadium. Obviously it is nice as all new things are but there are a few different things I don't like about with the biggest being if you are on the visiting side your stands are ridiculously far away from the field and they are low stands to to the point where fans complain about being able to see over the players on the sideline.

Hahaha. My brother-in-law played youth football in that stadium once. I can't imagine anything worse!

WORST
1. Manchester (Everything)
2. West Branch (Field conditions are terrible)
3. Dover (Horrible Turf)
4. East Liverpool (Crumbling bleachers and pressbox)
5. Cuyahoga Falls (Bad field conditions and horrible concessions)

BEST
1. Carrollton
2. Northwest
3. Salem
4. Canton South
5. Beaver Local
Love Salem's stadium. First ever Ohio night game was played there.

I'll just post this here because I know several of you have mentioned Tuslaw and the WCAL and that the chances that the WCAL ever expands are slim/none. I've been trying to find the answer as to why Hiland has never added football. I have read old articles back in the late 60s where they were in the process of adding a team. Anyhow, in one of the articles it mentions that if Hiland added football that they had been told by the WCAL that they would be accepted into the WCAL. This article is from January of 1968 so it's right as the IVC is coming together.

Anyhow, just interesting to think how different things could be if Hiland would've added football and joined the WCAL.

Just in case you didn't know Park Street is opening a North Canton location.
WHAT?! Omg you have no idea what you've done here....you literally just made my whole day lol
Once had a pair of younger gals move into our neighborhood who were really friendly & really attractive. The Mrs became like a big sister to them and we all got along great. Then they started washing their cars on Saturday morning in their bathing suits. The Mrs said "Since you have no temptation control either you start doing your weekend yard work at night or we need to move."

For some reason this feels a lot like that . . .

I know. The North Canton location will be about 10 minutes closer to us than the Sugarcreek one and we travel to the Canton area quite a bit so we are extremely excited about it as well.

The PACtion thread covers it all. I'm currently down here in Cincinnata inspired by a teachers conference for the woman in my world and the Paul Brown triple pass to Bob Trumpy in 1977.

The stellar tradition of German food in Cincinnata for dinner Saturday and Newport Aquarium Sunday. This is #PACtion on the road.

From what I have heard from some Manchester faithful, Stacy has won over the fans and they are impressed with him. He has laid out his program. One person told me thay are looking at @70 players.
It sounds like Stacy understands #PACtion and Stacy Shots will be on the Manchester Tavern menu.

I love the background music in that video. It was the theme song that played in my brain as a child when playing football in the yard.

I think Hiland is prohibited by some clause in deal that provided the land for the schools. I have heard that it prohibits the schools from playing a "contact" sport like football.
