Over/Under win totals for Federal League teams

The Wild Card

Well-known member
If you were a sportsbook and could hypothetically place a preseason over/under win total for each federal league team what would it be? Regular season only. You can set them at half games if you wish (example my O/U win total for GlenOak I’m placing at 4.5 this year.)

McKinley
GlenOak
Perry
Jackson
Hoover
Lake
Green

Bonus, we’ll toss in the following just for fun since these are Stark schools that play Fed teams in the non-con.

Massillon
Louisville
Alliance
Canton Central Catholic

I am thinking 10 may be a bit high for the Tigers. Tough schedule. I also think you are a little low for the puppy dogs. They should be very good this season.

Hoover has an open week??? How did that happen so late in the summer? If it is open I hope they can find some good to play and not a running clock game

I agree. They will probably go into week 10 with 2 losses each. Should be a big-time matchup. It'd be rewarding to see an old-time Mass-McK game for all the marbles, but someone invited 8 extra teams to the playoffs so it probably will only count for bragging rights and the next year's "transfer portal".

They had a Canadian opponent, the school closed recently and therefore an open date and from the looks there isn’t much available this late in game

Pretty high on Louisville! I doubt that coach turns that mess around that quickly plus they have 4-5 fed teams on the schedule that smoked them. I just don't see 7,but it is high school football.

Not a good job of planning by the AD. First mistake is getting a Canadian team, second is getting a Canadian team that must be so small it closed.
I saw St X has an Opening the Same week. But looking at Hoover's schedule the last few years they wouldn't want that.

St X filled that with McCallie (TN)

I believe the only schools that were open that would be comparable in size were E Cleveland Shaw (D4 2-8 last yr) and Erie (PA) (D1 1-9 last yr) and 2 senate schools Collinwood(D3 1-7), East Tech (D3 0-5 equipment issues were a couple of those)
So slim pickings it looks like unless there are some other out of state teams

I put Jackson at five, even though I don't think they will get that many, because they have won at least five every season since 2011.

Looking at the Polar Bears' schedule, its hard to see where the five wins will come from. I could be completely wrong though.

I think a lot depends on any injuries and out league schedules. The following is just my uneducated opinion lol, which could change because it’s really early, but just for fun, I’ll give it a go.
McKinley has Warren Harding, which should be a win, Avon, which is a toss up, Coffman, should be a win, and Massillon, who until they beat is a loss. Best scnario 3-1, worst 2-2
Green has Dover, toss up, Canfield South Range, a tough matchup, but I’ll favor Green, Tallmadge, toss up, Louisville, a win. Best scenario 4-0, worst 2-2
Hoover has Buchtel, a win, Hudson, a toss up, are they still play the Canucks? If so a win. Louisville, a win. Best scenario 4-0, worst 3-1.
Lake has Alliance, a win, Boardman toss up, Brecksville a win and Louisville a win. Best scenario 4-0, worst 3-1.
Jackson has Mentor, loss, Mayfield, toss up, Stow, win and CCC, toss up. Best scenario 3-1, worst 1-3
GlenOak has Cinn. Western Hills, win, Massillon, loss, Fitch toss up and Louisville, win. Best scenario 3-1, worst 2-2
Perry has CCC, a toss up, SVSM, loss, Euclid, win and Louisville, win. Best scenario 3-1, worst 2-2.

Not sure I would classify the Fitch game for Glenoak a toss up. I expect Fitch to be a very good team. I think it is a definite loss for the Eagles.

I generally agree with this, except three games, which I think aren’t as close. I don’t think:
- Hoover vs Hudson is a toss up (Hudson win)
- Lake vs Boardman is a toss up (Lake win)
- GlenOak vs Fitch is a toss up (Fitch win)

but who knows.

McKinley 6
Lake 7
Green 5
GlenOak 6
Jackson 3
Hoover 6 (assuming 9 game schedule)
Perry 6

I went back 10+ years and found no season where all Fed teams finished the regular season at .500 or better. Predicting that only 1 of these teams goes sub-.500 in the regular season might be generous on my part.
