Last Chance Qualifier is this weekend, here are some notable names at each weight:

57kg- Sean Russell, Zane Richards, Frank Perrelli, Jack Mueller, Darian Cruz
65kg- Pat Lugo, Evan Henderson, Mitch McKee, Dean Heil, Shayne Van Ness, Luke Pletcher, Matt Kolodzik, Ethan Lizak, Josh Saunders
74kg- Alec Pantaleo, Chance Marsteller, Tyler Berger, Josh Shields, Joey Lavallee, Dan Vallimont
86kg- Mark Hall, Gabe Dean, Max Dean, Nate Jackson, Drew Foster, David McFadden, Devin Skatzka (maybe the best weight, 3 NCAA champs here + Max Dean)
97kg- Braxton Amos, Scottie Boykin, Michael Boykin, Ben Honis
125kg- Derek White, Jordan Wood, Tanner Hall, Mikey Kosoy

Looking at Greco for OH connections, Koontz brother at 60kg and Braxton Amos at 97kg. Believe wrestling is Saturday and Sunday this week. Don't expect any of these guys to do much at World Team Trials, but the guy I'm most interested in is definitely Braxton Amos. Hope this is a warm up for a run at a Junior world title this summer.

86 kg
1. Gabe Dean (TMWC)
2. Nate Jackson (NYAC)
3. Mark Hall (TMWC)
4. Drew Foster (Panther WC)
5. David McFadden (TMWC)
6. Taylor Lujan (Panther WC)
7. Maxwell Dean (Spartan Combat RTC)
8. CJ Brucki (New Jersey RTC)

Grinder...

Mark Hall is wrestling at 86Kg? Has he bulked up that much, or going in light for the weight. I suppose that is the only weight he can really compete at now. He's been pretty much in the middle of the 74 and 86 weight classes throughout most of his college days. Only one national championship - and in his freshman season. Covid last year, and a potentially juiced up Valencia in between. Can't sit well with him...

I saw him wrestle a month or so ago and he was a bit, 'round' in the middle. But he's said, '74 isn't an option.'

Seems to be a tweener right now at this stage, maybe always who knows.

Looking at these pre-seeds, Deakin-Vincenzo as a semi jumps out right away. Pletcher-Kolodzik another potential semi that I'm very interested in.

Note- Top 2 at each weight qualify for trials, and true 2nd will be wrestled.

Alan Vera wins 87kg. He's probably the only wrestler competing this weekend that has a shot at making the team. That weight is qualified as well, so we very well could see Vera in the Olympics.

Also, If you don't know about Kennedy Blades, you will. She's like 18, still in high school, and won Last Chance at 68kg with four techs. She's not going to beat Tamyra, but she can win matches at trials and she will compete for a Junior world championship this summer (if she chooses to wrestle). She lost in the quarters at Cadets in 2019, but I remember her being concussed/hurt.

Quarters

57
Richards/Ramos - Cruz/Russel - Miller/Mueller

65
Kolodzik / Pletcher winner gets Lugo probably.
Van Ness / Henderson

All the 74 1/4's are fun.
Joseph/Berger - Marstellar/Lavalle - Pantaleo/Shields

Think the two most interesting things I've seen this morning have both been from 65kg. Kizhan Clarke teching Mitch McKee was a surprise, and Shayne Van Ness beating Sean Fausz and Brock Zacherl was a confirmation of his skills. SVN gets Evan Henderson next, a true test of his ability level. Kizhan Clarke wrestles Dean Heil (and he's in the transfer portal as a grad transfer, too. Might be an interesting pickup for someone needing a 149).
