OHSAA To Announce Possible Football Playoff Change, From 16 To 12 Teams In A Region

I think we're all really naive if we think the OHSAA will ever consider dropping down to 12 teams per region. If anything, they'll expand to let all teams in and drop the # of regular season games down to 9.
Ultimately the member schools will decide.

I see most schools wanting to keep 16 teams per region. I’d be a bit surprised if they go down to 12. I really don’t care what they do, I’ll still support and watch high school football anyways. But I really think all this would be easier if they just let everyone in. I feel like we would see less teams dodging each other. I wouldn’t mind it personally, but it is up to the schools.

If the number of qualifying playoff teams is lowered than how can schools continue to add to their “ Playoff Qualifier “ Banner that hangs in their gyms?

That's not what I've heard from coaches. A bye week would be welcomed to get a little more healthy for Week 12. Also no one wants their best players risking injury against a 4-6 #14 seed. I think there's a fair compromise here, teams 13-16 can have "bowl games" to offset any lost revenues. If anything seeing 13 v 14 would probably be a more enjoyable moment for Seniors
Not playing for 14 days is more detrimental than the injury risk. If your team is so good they might only play 2 QTs. Regardless OHSAA would lose 4 games in every region if they go to 12. They are not doing that.

That is a tough thing to gauge across the entire membership of the OHSAA. I'll bet more than a few coaches made scheduling choices based on the extended playoffs. It may not have filtered all the way up to the schools that have the most difficult time scheduling, but I believe that it impacted a number of schools.
Not only scheduling choices but league choices. Stay in a weak conference and schedule up OOC or join the tough conference and schedule weak OOC. Not all schools have that much of a choice.
