Congrats to all the teams but one thing that I think is wrong is the OHSAA splitting D1 from last season into three different divisions. This year, 11 teams that were D1 last year are playing in the semifinals across D1, D2, and D3.

Dover is the only school in the top 3 divisions this year that was not in D1 last year.

Softball isn't the only sport the OHSAA made the path too easy for D1 teams from the previous season.

The path is easier for teams in every division. It's just numbers. How many first time Finalists are there compared to other years? How many unexpected teams are there? I would say Centerville is unexpected in D1. They had a stronger team last year but didnt make it.

I would agree with you except for D3. This year, D3 is far tougher for the teams that dropped from D2. This year, around 64 D1 teams dropped to D3. It made it alot easier for the 64 teams that stayed in D1. Made it alot easier for the 64 teams that dropped to D2. It even made it easier for the 64 teams that dropped to D3. The only teams that faced a tougher challenge were the 64 teams from D2 last year that are now facing D1 teams from last year.

Every sport that went from 4 divisions made this concession to the former D1 teams. Even in football, there are 72 teams still in D1 and the rest of the divisions are split equally. Not sure why the OHSAA chose to clear the path for last year's D1 teams.

2024:
D1: #1 - #192
D2: #193 - #384
D3: #385 - #576

D7: #641 - #768
