Ohio State Football 2024

Have to spend money to make money. Bringing Ryan back and I wouldn’t expect games to sellout next year at Ohio Stadium
Better start the GoFundMe to start raising buyout funds then.

The Covid year budget shortfall resulted in the athletic department taking out a loan from the university. The academic institution isn’t going to lend the athletic department a $50 million loan to cover a budget deficit from firing a crappy overpaid coach.

There is absolutely zero chance of this ever happening.
Never say never. People said the same about Roe V Wade being overturned and government programs being cut out that have been around awhile and Trump is going to try and do that.

Have to have enough free thinkers and people that aren’t afraid to push back against the establishment.

Never say never, but IMO it’s going to be a hard sell to hemorrhage non-revenue sports that are both generally low-cost while also being championship caliber.

Football funds the empire, but the empire likes collecting as many trophies as possible.

It won't be hard because soon the football program won't be making as much money if they continue to lose big games and have Ryan Day employed. Those sports can't have the football and basketball programs funding them, they really should only exist as disposable income from the football and basketball programs AFTER they are BOTH operating at elite levels.

The empire can only exist if the consumer keeps giving money to the football and basketball programs and I think they won't as much with Day and Diebler as coaches.

Rutgers football had a profit of $125 million last year. Ohio State is going to make money no matter if Ryan Day is the coach or you are coaching

100% agree with Bjork on this. I posted this right after the loss in THE GAME. The coaches, players and entire fan base cross out the letter "M" all over the place. We refuse to say the name "Michigan" and call them TTUN. It is childish, like they are Voldemort or something. Stop giving them so much power over your own psyche. This is what causes all of the tense, tight play and scared, conservative game-plan.

Just play your fricking game, like every other week. Michigan deserves no more or less attention than Indiana or Penn State.

I agree with you on the childish stuff which is much more recent thing. That being said, beating Michigan is the top priority. Minimizing that is what losers do.

Minimizing it wasn’t needed when Tressel or Urban were at the helm.

The problem is Ryan Day’s sphincter puckers under the pressure of the moment, and he causes his assistants and players to tighten up and shrink away with him.

If he can’t handle the pressure of one of the greatest rivalries in sports, then he needs to get lost. The problem is he’s not up to the challenge and the moment when the spotlight is on.

Just a little story for all the Yappi ites. Back in the day (around 2003- 2007) when my son was wrestling at Ohio U, I traveled to East Lansing annually to watch my son wrestle at the Michigan St Open. At every rest stop from Ohio to my destination I would see Go Buckeyes or OSU signs on the poles. Thought it was cool!

Caleb Downs is the 56th consensus All American in Ohio State history and has a chance at being the 36th unanimous All American, the FWAA and Sporting News will release their AA lists tomorrow and Wednesday.

McLaughlin was named 2nd team and no longer has the opportunity to being named unanimous AA, although still has a chance at being named a consensus AA. He just needs to be named to one of the FWAA or Sporting News’ first team AAs.

Air Noland is not homesick, he's just not a P4 guy.

On another note, it has been reported at minimum 42% of playoff tickets for OSU\TEN has been sold to residents in the state of Tennessee...that's not good.

If that’s accurate, it’s an indictment on the incompetent rollout of ticket sales.

Once suspected that their “guest” password quality presale code had leaked, they should have immediately voided and refunded all sales, and started over.

His saying that is blasphemy in any traditional sense regarding Ohio State football. Heresy worthy of burning him at the stake, or worse. Yet given the new reality of professional college football ?

CFB now essentially NFL without a collective bargaining agreement. Players will be paid directly next year from revenue sharing. Teams will be built through bidding rather than recruiting. The goals will be the playoffs. Will the traditions, rivalries, and conferences even matter?

Trust me I am as old school and traditionalist as they come, yet is Bjork correct? Are the old ways dead or dying and in need of being cast away? The $$ more important than beating Blue?

PRIORITY LIST OSU FOOTBALL:
1. Beat Michigan
2. Win B1G
3. National Championship

Turn on some Staind, it's been a while...

How many hours have you spent watching his HS film?
I want you to go look at Langston Hughes Football on Maxpreps for the 2023 season.

You will notice against any team with a winning record he threw significantly more interceptions than TDS. In the only playoff game he was in believe it was 0 TD, 4 INT against a halfway decent team. That's at the highest classification in Georgia.

I have no doubt St. Clair will follow in same shoes as Noland as well. Recruited way too early as a Junior. Guy already couldn't handle a soft league Division III football in Ohio, already has been sgnificantly hurt. Wait until you play the big dogs. The 4-Star\5-Star camp business is wrong all the time.

Sayin is for real, other than him, we have zero depth at QB. God forbid Sayin leaves and I think unfortunately if this staff leaves, so does he. Who knows, he'll go wherever the money leads. Have heard Ole Miss is saving up...I predicted this with Noland back in the summer and everyone laughed it up. Well here we are.

I have watched St. Clair play multiple times. When he was a junior, they had a center and possibly also an OG that were like 5’9 or 5’10 and 180-190 lbs. This year, his team basically had one legitimate passing option (transfer from Centerville) when playing any opponent with a pulse. I salute him for sticking with the hometown team, but he should have gone elsewhere for his development. Bellefontaine was pretty pedestrian talent wise for being D3/D4 this year aside from him and the kid from Centerville.

I have no idea whether he pans out or not, but he’s a huge kid with a big arm that has been very accurate in the quick and intermediate passing game at his level. I understand why he’s a 5 star prospect. Generally when his team has fallen flat the last two years, it’s because they’ve gotten thoroughly mauled up front.

Box score watcher. I had a feeling that was the case. We’ll play your box score watching game.

Against Carrollton, who finished 11-2, he outplayed fellow blue chip QB recruit Julian Lewis while throwing it for 62%, 2 touchdowns and 0 INTS. LH won that game. His only regular season loss against a Georgia school, Douglas County, 13-1, he completed 67%, 1 touchdown and 1 INT. His playoff loss he did have 4 interceptions, you did have that right. He also had 2 touchdowns, not 0 like you claimed, and completed 73% of his passes. I did watch some film from that game last winter after Sayin transferred in, 2 of those INTs hit his WRs in the hands, bounced off and into the hands of a defender.

As for the other games against winning record teams:
- McEachern (7-5) 62%, 1 TD, 0 INT
- East Paulding (6-5) 64%, 3 TD, 0 INT
- Butler (North Carolina, 12-2) 57%, 2 touchdowns, 3 INT

5 game total - 11 touchdowns, 8 interceptions. With just 1 truly bad game on Noland’s end against an out of state team. Maybe my math is a little fuzzy, but 11>8, so not significantly more INTs than touchdowns against teams with a winning record. There’s only 1 game that could be considered “significantly” more INTs thrown than TDs, but 4 vs. 2 seems like a stretch to call it significant.

Now you may be right that he isn’t a P5 QB, but not for any of your reasoning you’ve provided so far as you’ve just been factually incorrect.

Also, did you know his number 1 WR that year was a listed 5’9” (so probably closer to 5’8”) and 160lbs? 1 player can only do so much.

Let's face it, going undefeated, while nice, not a requirement to win a National Title. Which is why when Oregon does it this year, it will be even more amazing.

You do understand that if accurate, that’s 42% of resale market seats, right?

Yeah. Way too long.
