Tennessee fans = based. Agree or disagree?
Disagree because pretty much everything he said was wrong. The points he’s correct on, Tennessee has a similar counter point.

In 2024, the Big 10’s best team did not lose their coach nor go 7-5. 0/1 so far

OSU’s roster isn’t $21m nor did they lose to a Pac12 team. 0/2 so far.

He is correct that they didn’t play in the CCG, nor did Tennessee though so he gets a half point here. .5/3 so far.

This one is just god awful English, but a Pac12 team didn’t win the conference. .5/4

Tennessee started the season with Chattanooga, a god awful NC State, Kent State, a bad Oklahoma team and a bad Arkansas team which is equal if not worse than OSU’s 5 game stretch, when just factoring strength of opponent. He doesn’t even get a half point here because Ohio State went 5-0 during their cupcake stretch, Tennessee went 4-1. 0.5/5

Tennessee lost to a non-rebuilding 6-6 Arkansas team with less talent than Nebraska. 0.5/6

Averaging over 2 posts a day about Ohio State, less than 0.15 posts a day about Michigan in the month of December. It appears the 2 decade of dominance broke poor @bkmk1. Even 4 straight wins isn’t enough to heal that poor, broken man. OSU broke him so bad, he doesn’t even know how to use the quote function.

Strength of schedule.
23) Ohio State: 199.25
49) Tennessee: 172.5

I haven’t done a deep dive into Tennessee yet, I can say from their schedule and results they are not impressive. Problem is, neither is Ohio State.
Yup. Of the top 10 non-Tennessee teams in the SEC this year, Tennessee played just 3 in Georgia (1st), Alabama (4th) and Florida (10th). They missed out on playing Texas, Ole Miss, SC, Missouri, LSU and ATM.

They’ve had some close games against bad teams, one thing that has to be pointed out is the SEC isn’t nearly as good as it has been in the last. Arkansas lost to a bad Oklahoma State team and beat Tennessee. That cannot go unnoticed

I saw Tennessee in person this season in Charlotte, if NC State starts their backup QB then they don’t get blown out. The pick 6 completely changed that game because NC State was driving in the 2nd quarter to tie the game

Ohio State does need to look to the Tennessee athletic department and see how to be successful across the spectrum in athletics. Their football team is currently in the playoffs, basketball team is coming off an elite 8 and currently ranked #1. Their baseball team just won the national championship.

That is the level I expect OSU athletics to operate at. Ross Bjork has ALOT to clean up with the failed Gene Smith administration

Ohio State as an overall athletic program is eons above schools like Tennessee. It’s not even close. Aside from dumping massive amounts of money into football, it’s not even close to being the same management and leadership task managing 38-40 varsity sports compared to being at a school that has 15 varsity sports.

Nobody in the Midwest cares about college baseball, and the weather sucks for much of the season so the elite players have no desire to be here. Elevating to elite, let alone with consistency, is a major stretch here. Football they have zero excuse for not being elite. Basketball cyclically needs to be elite.

Been listening to the crap about OSU and the SEC for at least 40 of my 63 years. I won't get into arguments with the morons that want to argue. I am an Ohio State fan win or lose. Maybe Tennessee needs a wrestling team? Good Luck to both teams and I do expect a Buckeye victory. Right now listening to some good D-3 Ohio football.

Great announcers!

Big money sports, I.e. football and basketball, ultimately setting the standard for success and if not met, regime change, comes down to what the big money boosters are willing to pay for.

It’s easy for the common man to get on the soap box and say things need to change (especially if they fall flat on their face against Tennessee), but the common fan isn’t paying a nearly $40 million buyout to dump Ryan Day. Right now it’s probably around $50 million to dump the current staff in full. Probably another $20 million (at least) for buyouts and first year contracts for a new staff. Another $20 million for next year’s roster.

Unless Day willingly leaves for another job, which I don’t discount, odds are he will be here for 1 or 2 more seasons. I think financially he will get two more years to right the ship, and if not, when you halve the current contract buyouts he will be gone.

Posters said the same about Holtmann, if OSU loses to Tenn. IMO Day is gone, not that I am supporting that, but I believe that will happen. Bjork fired Jimbo Fisher which cost A&M 75 million FWIW.

But who is going to pay for it? A&M has big money oil guys as boosters. Boosters have to step up and eat it.

The athletic department isn’t eating $60-70 million to buyout Day and Co. and to buyout contracts and pay first year salaries for a new staff. The athletic department is a big money enterprise, but it also has major expenses including continuing to pay long-term capital projects. Ohio State athletics usually records a profit of somewhere around $5 to $10 million a year, but has lost money a couple times in recent years due to COVID and due to a 6 game home football slate.

Nobody gives a f**k about most sports outside of Football, Basketball, or Baseball. I’m in total favor of OSU cutting most of these money stealing sports to support the sports people care about/can make money on

Have to spend money to make money. Bringing Ryan back and I wouldn’t expect games to sellout next year at Ohio Stadium
